I always dog-ear my books. Some say this is abuse. I say it's a display of my affection. Do you dog-ear your books or use a bookmark? Do you have any special bookmarks?

I'm sorta OCD about my books and always use a book mark or try and remember the page. I hate dog ears & hate even more when people use the flap of the jacket as a bookmark. My friend did that to my Paper Towns book when she borrowed it =(

I bookmark with what ever flat object I can find. :P

I dog-ear the books if they're not mine (like library books), but if i bought the book, i either put a post it note on the page, or memorize the page number.

You can tell by looking how loved a book was, my all time faves have writing in the sides, dog ears, back covers folded in half, phone numbers of whomever chose to give them to me whilst I was attempting to enjoy my re-reading... I also read if I take a bath, so plenty of the greats are all ripply with ink a bit smudged (from the writing that occurs in the margins)
My bff Eva tells me I abuse my books, but I correct her that I merely love my books to severely XD
She lectures me about it consantly D:

Well Caroline I vote on bookmarking!
I don't want to mar my precious books! Plus I find dog-earing a pain when reading after someone who does so; the pages keep getting all weird and stuck together! D:

Dog-ear most of the time. Unless it's a first edition or a really old book.

I have nothing against "dog-earing" books. I don't think it's "abuse" books that look new look like sad books. The only problem I have with it is sometimes a previous dog ear will fall down and you lose your place. If I'm reading a hard cover book I usually just used the book jacket as a book mark and if it's soft covered I try to read to the end of a chapter or to a page that ends in zero or five.

"soft cover" like a taco. Sheesh I meant paperback.

I would also like to point out the value of the book. I usually only buy used books who have had their share of readings in which case it really doesn't matter how you keep your page.

Normally I just read to a page number that I will remember and close it. I always forget bookmarks. = ) But I don't see a problem with dog-earing. It's your book, and it doesn't affect the quality of the words printed on it. If anything I just think it adds to the aesthetics. = )

Dog ear. I own six pretty pretty bookmarks, but I never have one around when I need it.

Dog-earing upsets me greatly, the book always falls open at those pages even if you've unfolded them..
And i don't have the time for book marks, I just grab the nearest flattish thing I see and stick it in :)

I have a lot of special bookmarks. Very often gifts. But I can never find one when I need one, so it's dog ear or spine cracking.
