werewolves are pretty jokes.
although, after seeing the ginger snaps trilogy, i kind of would never want to be one.
whereas i did want to be a vampire quite sincerely for a while in elementary school.

I don't think anyone has mentioned these, but I quite liked the vampires in Robin McKinley's book Sunshine and I think that the vampires in Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series are pretty awesome as well. Sadly, she hasn't written a vampire-centric novel yet, though she does have plans to do so.

And I know that this is an unpopular opinion...but I think that the way that Stephenie Meyer writes her vampires in the Twilight series may be my least favorite version of the vampire I've ever read.
