NaNoWriMo

I know that this is the completely wrong time of the year to start a discussion like this, but I was wondering who here has done NaNoWriMo? Or is planning to do it? And if you have, has your book been edited, and completed, and all that?

My first NaNo was last year, and I'd only found out about it like two days before it started, so you're better off than I was lol! Anyway, I didn't tell anyone about it and I never got done. What did keep me going as long as I did was a group from a roleplay site I'm on that kept bugging me about it lol. I gave up a little over halfway through the month and had only gotten 18,000 words.

The point is that I STILL had an amazing time, enough of one to have gone to the site and stalked it since it opened this year. It was tons of fun just to sit and write for the heck of it before doing my school papers. It was great to see those couple moments that I really liked, like my idea of having ninjas watching a house, then stalking the pizza guy... (long story) No matter how far you get, or what your writing looks like, you're sure to have done more writing than ever before and to have a great time.

Also, like Samwise said, you should look for the 'region' area of the NaNo forums. There should be people there that can hook you up with writers and actually go have write-ins with them. My region has two a week near me, and some on other days in other areas. And check the nerdfighter area if you haven't already.; ▶ Reply to This

I cannot wait for November to come around! My computer, (and pen), are looking forward to the challenge.

I would love to have a few buddies to work through this with, please add me, I'm sure I will need the support come November. My user name is the same on NaNo: Sarah-Mechelle.

Permalink Reply by Evangeline on October 16, 2008 at 8:05am: I did Nanowrimo last year for the first time (heard about it in My Pants) and loved it. I completed my 50 000k. Actually, finished early...because I'm that kind of a keener. I did go on to finish my novel, and recently edited it.It's a children's fantasy story, cute and fun and I'm reasonably happy with it (for me to be reasonably happy with anything I've written is huge, so Nano FTW!).

But it was really hard to find all that time to write and required lots of support from my hubby in taking care of the little NFs etc. This year it's impossible for me to devote enough time to it. So I can't decide whether to join up and just do as much as I can (but the Hermione in me might go crazy at not being able to complete it!!!!) or to wait until next year when I should be able to give it a proper go...; ▶ Reply to This

I already have a plot and everything. Even though I decided to change my plot after the Hurricane because it was about a murder that happened during a hurricane....I may write it at another time. I need to rethink the Hurricane plot line now that I have been through Ike.
