Nerdfighters

Which one do you think looks better and which will you buy? Why? What do you think this says about your personality? What do you think the way in which the cover girl was "radically misapprehended" on your chosen cover?

—My favorite is the blue one. It's more subdued, and it looks like it has more depth. Her eyes even look totally different, more clear. Also, whenever I'm reading a brightly colored book (say, The Keys to the Golden Firebird) people keep grabbing the book to see the title and ask me annoying questions like "is it good?" Well, I don't know, considering I can't read it, thanks to you.
—I think this says that I like blending in. The girl on the cover is overlayed with a rustic background. The edges of her are blurred. Everything is transparent, like the text, her eyes, her lips, even.
—I think the girl (is her name Margot? someone comment back to answer, please) is sometimes mistaken as one who blends into the wall. Someone rustic and tough, dark and subdued.

EDIT: Her name's Margo.

BLUE! Just because she looks sad, puzzled, hurt, etc. That cover shows (to me) more emotion. I like characters with problems, apparently. =]

But I probably will get both. (I am way too excited for this book!)

Margo, I think.

I don't think I'm gonna order my copy of Amazon, because they give you a random cover, and I don't want to risk getting two yellow or two blues when I want one yellow and one blue.

Thanks for the reminder. I keep wanting to go to Amazon and pre-order it so I don't forget to get it (pfft, like I will), but then I remember that I actually want to pick both colors. Also, going out to a bookstore will give me/us the chance to see if there are any NerdFighters around buying the book (doubtful, but I can always hope, right?). I was in a rush before but I wanted to mention that you interpreted the cover very well and I agree with you. And if this helps, Omnictionary shows her name to be Margo Roth Spiegelman.

I am definitely going to buy the blue version. It appeals to me more because of the depth in her eyes (by the way, I do believe her name is Margot) and the blurriness of the picture. She also looks like she has more to say and that it is confined in her, that people perceive her in the wrong way. The yellow cover, while bright and cute, reminds me more of a teen novel (which I know is John's genre of writing but I feel like John's books have more meaning and emphasis on life values and such than a regular teen novel, take Looking For Alaska as an example). So while I like both covers, the blue one appeals to me more, and I guess that what that shows about my personality is that I am a bit more dark. Actually, now that I think about it, I think that people from the outside who don't really know me, would perceive me as the type of girl displayed in the yellow cover, whereas the people who know me or even I would think that the blue cover actually best reflects my personality and identifies me more. Although, knowing me I might just buy both. :P

Margot, okay. I knew I didn't pull that name from nowhere.

Well, it's spelled Margo, I think, but yeah. :P

I think? That's what the site said? I'm sure I read it somewhere....

*goes to check*

Here we go

I am probably going to buy both, because I take my favorite books and display them. Like I have a display for all of my death note books and parephineilia as well as the harry potter and twilight series. I already have my copies of looking for Alaska, an abundance of Katherines and my framed letter from John all together so it is probably going there.

I'm freaked out because I do exactly the same thing, with exactly the same books (and paraphenilia—L plushie, anyone?). I just don't have that letter from John.
I do plan on buying both, because I feel that they belong together. The covers sort of fit together so I'd hate to pull them apart.

I really, really like the blue one. It's so dramatic. I can just see me walking around with the blue cover more than the yellow cover.

I think that the girl on the blue cover must come off as seeming tough and together, but she is truly more indepth of a person than that. All I can think of is when John read an excert, and the two characters, Margot and ?, found the dead body. Margot was very interested in the body and seemed to be very psychologically complicated, being that she was more interested in seeing death than she was afraid of seeing a body, as I would imagine most people would be. However, the yellow cover makes me think that in other social situations, she comes across as seeming together, calm, and mellow. Maybe she becomes popular when she is older and appears to be one of the crowd, but is having issues with her place with the people she hangs out with and wants to have adventure apart from them.

I think the yellow one makes her seem sturdy and confident. The colors are more solid (her eyes, her lips, the background, the text) and she has a self-confident smirk on her face.

In short I like the blue version. =]
