Do you ever feel awkward?

Do you ever feel awkward when people are bashing nerds and complaining about things that are Nerdfighterlike? Everyday I hear people call people nerds in a bad way, and I always decrease world suck one person at a time by going up to the non-Nerdfighters and telling them that nerds are made of awesome. Take today for example- in the play that I am doing for school, the two main characters are nerds. By the end of the play, everyone has turned into a nerd and realizes that being smart is fun. This is the reaction when we got our scripts:

Amy: *complaining* I don't WANT to be a nerd.
Jackie: I'm not a nerd! I'm pretty damn cool.
Me: I'm a nerd! Being a nerd doesn't mean that you can't be jokes!
Amy and Jackie: *weird looks flashed at me. then turn away*

the nerdfighter community evidently hates me. everytime i post a question, i get about 1 reply. lol. maybe i just don't ask good questions?

I feel like that... basically all the time?

Like right now I'm trying to explain to my friend that geeks and nerds and all that aren't different types of people, they're all nerdfighters, but she's resistant because she said "only to people who like that vlogbrothers thing" She's a nerdfighter, really, she just doesn't know what it means to be one.

Also, I'm the only one who gets bashed. But only by my friends.

i know exactly how you feel.
i was in science class one day and i was talking about NerdFighters and everyone goes whats that??
but when i explained it to them they just laughed at me and went "so your a neerrrrd."
i didnt mind it much because i know that as a NerdFighter im made of awesome.
*sigh* even though we try some people just dont get how jokes it is to be nerds.

yea I'm kind of lucky guessing, but i bet almost every nerdfighter deals with this in their daily lives, and we all understand you (yea i'm speaking for everyone, sorry if u don't include yourself whoever reads)

Pretty much everyday of my life...I'm the type of nerd who everyone likes though...I hang out with all the 'popular' kids or whatever you wanna call em but I'm not one of them...I'm livin in my own little nerdy nerdfighter world...lol

I use to get really awkward whenever someone said "gay' or "fag" in some derogatory way and then one day I realized, "Hey! I ca actually do something about this!"

So now whenever I hear someone use those words, I go up to them and tell them that it's not cool. Sometimes the people argue with me but usually they are considerate and stop saying those things, well at least in front of me.

I'm doing that with one of my friends too. Whenever she called something gay I glared at her, so then it became "That's so g-...stupid." Now I haven't heard her call anything gay in a while.

Although now I'm pretty sure all my friends suspect me of being gay because I yell at her for it. Idiots. I can't stand up for what's right without it affecting me personally?

I don't know but I have a good response if someone asks you your gay or a lezbian and your not, actually two (people ask me if I'm a Lezbian quite a bit because my friends and I enjoy hugs jez): "Why? does that turn you on?"
