Nerdfighters

Do you ever feel awkward when people are bashing nerds and complaining about things that are Nerdfighterlike? Everyday I hear people call people nerds in a bad way, and I always decrease world suck one person at a time by going up to the non-Nerdfighters and telling them that nerds are made of awesome. Take today for example- in the play that I am doing for school, the two main characters are nerds. By the end of the play, everyone has turned into a nerd and realizes that being smart is fun. This is the reaction when we got our scripts:

Amy: *complaining* I don't WANT to be a nerd.
Jackie: I'm not a nerd! I'm pretty damn cool.
Me: I'm a nerd! Being a nerd doesn't mean that you can't be jokes!
Amy and Jackie: *weird looks flashed at me. then turn away*

Lol. Does that ever happen to you???

not that it is comprable (i spelled that wrong), but something similar used to happen in elementary school to me.
when ever someone farted everyone would go "ewwwww who did that?" and try to find out who it was, so they could laugh or something. i thought that this was really mean and embarrassing, so i would always go "who cares who it was. the point is, it smells." (hey, i tried.) then everyone always would think it was me, even though it wasnt. *sigh*
To the last part, that is so true.
RANT AHEAD

At my school, there are only 25 students, we all say that if you're at GECS, you're weird and most likely crazy. In a good way of corse. Well, what other way is there?

Whenever someone calls me weird, nerd, geek, or a freak I say thank you, no matter how they meant it. The way that I take the stereotypical weird/freak type comment is that I'm an individual, not some clone of the idiotic mass culture of drones and therefore think for myself instead of being stuffed with ideas of likes and dislikes by "the man".

The way that I take the stereotypical geek/nerd type comment is that I am smart, intelligent, and care more about the pursuit of the truth, knowledge, and going to college than drugs, sex, alcohol, or parties with all three. That I will never change who I'm just to "fit in", and that I am ME!!!!! And No, you can't copy my work, even if you could read it.

As you might be able to guess this is a subject that I could go on about. This is more of a rant towards my fellow teenagers in Siskiyou County California than the world in general.

To quote a sticker I have: "People Overload".
I'm lucky enough to go to a school where academics is more popular than athletics.
So yeah, not too much of the nerd-bashing going on.

Although it can get super annoying and stress-levels are always high.
For example, the backs of the senior shirts read, "Is this going on my transcript?"
Yeah.
Enough said.
Yes definitely. The other day in art I was doodling in my sketchbook, drawing DFBTA in bubble letters and writing all of the Nerdfighterly sayings. And my friend asked me what a Nerdfighter was and what DFTBA stood for. I kind of explained it and my friend was all, "you're such a nerd." And I was like "Yes! That's exactly the point!" Except I don't think she thought that was a positive thing because it was accompanied by an eye roll. Oh well. :]
someone took my ipod the other day (a friend of mine who isnt so nerdly) and he was looking and saw my ridiculous number of showtunes. he goes "wow hannah. you're such a loser" i was like "hell yeah, and i'm having a great time!"
That has to be the best response I've ever heard. Thank You! From now on, whenever some one calls me a loser or nerd or geek, I shall response with a glorious "Hell Yeah I Am!". :)
what makess me mad is that people mix nerds with dorks! It's an insult for me and I have to explain to them the differences between us and them. My brothers do that mistake everyday...
i dunno, i sorta AM a dork... actually, maybe more of a geek. i cant decide.
Actually, most of my friends are nerds, so not really; however, when moments like this DO happen, I say the things in such a pleasant manner that they can't possibly be mean. Just remember to kill 'em with kindness. It's quite hilarious.
Honestly, I don't see it alot. I think the times are a changing and nerd doesn't mean what it used to....well it does except now it's a good thing.lol. If there are ppl still 'bashing' nerds or nerdfighterly activity, they are seriously out of the loop, and you are doing them a big favor by informing them, thanx for decreasing world suck!!
I haven't seen something like this really happen since I was in high school, but maybe that's me. In college there are tons of people who fall in the "nerd" category that I don't really see much of it happening. But when something like this did happen, I'd just smile to myself because I knew better. Nerds will one day save the world... It's going to be a known fact - I hope. :)
