I know that ill probably get like hazed for saying this but does any one agree?

I also hate the books, I generally like books with some romance, but I like that on the side, not to be the whole plot! The books seem be "Guiding Light" on paper, and that is greatly disturbing to me!!!!! My friends are obsessed with it, and I flatly refused to read it, even though we generally read and share the same books! I am a writer and hope to make that my profession in life, and I believe a seemingly untalented author(I may be wrong, but it's based on reviews I've heard) should not have a best seller! I also find vampires a little creepy(but am not oppossed)!
I think it's going a little far to 'hate' a book without reading it. And it's definitely going too far to call someone untalented and criticize their writing style from a second hand opinion. It's one thing to decide that from the reviews you've read and things you've heard that you don't want to read the books, but you can't just let people tell you she's a hack.

I feel a little bad for her now. She's got either scary rabid fans, or full on haters. That must suck, you know? As a writer I think I would prefer to have a happy medium of people who loved my books because they were well-written good books, and people who didn't care for them because they didn't like my style or something...
I really enjoyed Twilight, I found it a fresh take on a vampire story, and the setting was interesting (I've been to Forks, not much going on there, so placing the story there intrigued me). And yes, I was taken in by the romantic Vampire, Edward. But when I tried to read New Moon... I just couldn't get through it. Bella was so annoying, so terribly obsessed, so ridiculous, that I couldn't stand her. I didn't even finish it. I can see why girls (and let's admit it, most of the Twilight fans are girls) love the books, but Anne Rice's vampires are more interesting. I look at the "Twilights" as Anne Rice training books. Neither are high literature, but fun books to read. I'd like to hear more people reading Bram Stoker's Dracula and getting excited about that-- now there's a good vampire story for you!!!
I agree with the "training book" comment. I was not as happy with New Moon either, but Eclipse turns things around again and you can see where she needed New Moon. I was a bit annoyed too, but I kept thinking about all the teenaged girls who get self-obsessed over smaller stuff so I just let it be.
i agree you should never hate a book if you haven't even read it.
I am not Meyer's biggest fan and her writing style does annoy my eyes and confuse me at times. However, I have friends that feel the exact opposite.

I do not think she is untatlented. Quite on the contrary, I think she has a kanck for stretching a romantic plotline as far as a purely romantic plotline can go. And doing this so fluidly that girls (some guys) flock to her books. No one with as big as a fanbase as she has could be a hack. Unless we're discussing Britney Spears.....

I have read Twilight. It wasn't my favorite nor did I despise it. It seemed a bit pointless to me. I loved the vampire chase at the end, but other than that the entire novel seemed to be a romantic dillydally of ideas. AND nothing even happened! Edward couldn't touch Bella because he was so afraid of hurting her, then he didn't want to turn her into a vampire....yadda yadda yadda......In my opinion, if you are going to write a romantic novel could something good at least happen? Please?

This being said I enjoyed her books, but I am far from a raving fangirl.
Britney Spears has her merit.
I completely agree with you up to a point. Britney Spears has a very dedicated fanbase as does Stephanie Meyer. I just think Stephanie Meyer's might be a bit more deserved.
Oh, definitely.

I'm sure Britney Spears is a TERRIBLE writer!

Baha. Is my dislike of Meyer's writing visible? I mean, I hope so. XD
A girl who falls in love with a vampire?? Have you ever read a vampire book?? They almost all involve a girl falling in love with a vampire.
Now, yeah, I still haven't read it. (Sorry, I have other things on my plate right now.) And I'm not forming an opinion about Meyer's writing style or storytelling cause I really don't know, but if the best you can say is that she's the only person who can tell a story about a girl who falls in love with a vampire then thats not saying much.
I can name at least six books that involve the same plot or sub-plot. And they all do it pretty damn good.
I agree. It certainly isn't an original plot. Wait...does it even have a plot besides the romantic one?

If it does, I couldn't find one.

Yet another book with a girl falling in love with a vampire...I didn't like the idea when I picked up the book, and hated it when I set it down.
There are NO original stories. That's just a fact of writing. The thing is, if you do not like the girl falling in love with the vampire story then why did you even read it? And why are you so set on reaming Meyer when really you knew you wouldn't like the book in the first place? It's like you hold a personal grudge.
