Nerdfighters

Attention Medieval History Fans! Read this great book about time travel and really enjoyed it...anyone read this one before? Its about a medieval history student who travels back in time to the 1320's but a transport malfunction drops her into the year 1348, (thats right folks), the year of the black death. I found it hard to put this one down. I was just wondering people's opinions on it.

I loved this book. She's done other books and short stories in the same time traveling universe as well - 'To Say Nothing of The Dog,' 'Fire Watch,' and she's writing more. Here's her website - http://www.sftv.org/cw/
Wow! I did not know that she had written other books on the subject (This is the first book of hers that I have read). I just really enjoyed her interpretation of what she thought the era would have felt like. I loved the intense buildup she creates between the moment that Kivrin "drops" into the past, and is lying motionless, waiting to open her eyes...
I admit, however, that I found myself skimming through the portions of the book where the reader is in the 'present' with Mr Dunworthy. I found these parts comparitively bland, but nescessary, I suppose. Oh, and I loved the deep, reverent love that Father Roche has for her throughout. Balled my eyes out when he dies.

Loved it.
