Nerdfighters

Obviously, I hate Twilight. Everyone seems to love it so much, and I don't understand! Am I the only one?

EDIT- I didn't check this thread for a few days and it exploded. If any Twilight lovers are here just to flame us, please go away. Everyone of course is entitled to their own opinion, and if you want to agree or disagree respectfully, welcome.

LOL, I've never heard them referred to as emo but it kinda fits :)

I personally haven't bothered to figure out what Twilight is, so I suppose I'll just leave it be and stick to my own nerdy devices.

Very good idea.

Yeah, I think that was New Moon.
I was soooo bored during those couple hundred pages.
Pfffft, talk about bad editing...

as i said before although it was incredibly sad and had a great point showing the connection between the main characters

Personally, I love it. But everyone has their own opinion I guess. Although I do agree that New Moon was incredibly boring.

well it was incredibly boring but it had a very good point about the connection she and edward had

To me, it just showed that their relationship was unhealthy, and obsessive. The fact that she couldn't live without her boyfriend without complete nervous collapse worries me.

Tooo damn funny; and yet so so true.

I don't hate it, it's just not my... cup of tea. I think there was just way too much drama. the whole plot was centered around how bella is in love with edward cullen. I just need a little more action.

maybe this is just me, but I actually think one of the main draws of Twilight (for me, at least) is the depth of the characters. Each has a fascinating backstory and a distinct, complex personality. As for your argument that Twilight "lacks plot" I (respectfully) disagree. I think this series has a refreshingly original storyline and it keeps moving, although I will admit that the first few chapters of Twilight as well as some of the middle of New Moon got a little slow. Also, I do like Stephenie Meyer's writing style; I think it's descriptive without being wordy, and she's very good at evoking emotion. Finally, the story doesn't only deal with bella and edward's love story, although admittedly this is the main plot line; there's also alot of action and suspense, especially aorund the end of the books. My only pet peeve is that Bella always seems to be crying and in need of a guy to help her up. Me being rather feminist, I'm annoyed by this, but I can still appreciate the books.

Did you get a sense of fan fiction from Stephenie Meyer's writing style? Because that was one of the things that bothered me most about the series. Just wondering your opinion, since you enjoy her style.
