Obviously, I hate Twilight. Everyone seems to love it so much, and I don't understand! Am I the only one?

EDIT- I didn't check this thread for a few days and it exploded. If any Twilight lovers are here just to flame us, please go away. Everyone of course is entitled to their own opinion, and if you want to agree or disagree respectfully, welcome.

I love the book, however one of my best friends read the first two chapters and put the book down. I told her to give it a chance and let it develop more, because the first two chapters are slightly boring, but she won't budge. She just doesn't like it. So no, you aren't the only one who doesn't like it.

I don't like it at all. I read the first book for summer reading just after it came out, and I was a little iffy about it. I got about halfway into New Moon, and then I simply put it down. I just didn't like it. I am not a fan of Stephenie Meyer's writing.

Also, no matter how cloudy Forks usually is, the sun has got to come out SOMETIME. Then Edward will sparkle and dazzle, and everyone will be like, "WTF mate?"

wow.... it was on your summer reading list? Jeepers....

Haha, just found this and I think you all would appreciate it:

How Bella and Edward REALLY act! (Twilight)
How Bella and Edward REALLY act! (New Moon)

Oh my. That was...really accurate.

Lol. I've read all the books, and, to me, the characters are exactly as stupid and vacuous as these videos portray.

Also, I live in Washington, and the author did absolutely no research on the surrounding geography. Driving to Seattle to go to a bookstore? WTF, it's a 5.5 hour drive! And driving to Olympia on the way to Seattle? "I'll just ignore Bremerton (ferries) and Tacoma (bridge) completely!"

Here's the thing with me, I enjoyed the first book, and the first book only. And I really am getting so tired of everybody talking about it. On youtube, people comment about Twilight on what's supposed to be for music videos! I hate it

Here's the thing about the Twilight series: it's a daytime soap opera in book form. To me this means it is there purely for entertainment and one should not seek any deeper meaning in it.

But I can't lie. The first time I read Twilight I loved it, and I'm not ashamed. It was fun until I started to think about it and realized that Bella is disgusting and wussy, Edward is controlling and grosh when he gets gushy, and Jake is kinda cool accept for the obsessed-with-Bella thing.

The entire series is about an all consuming romance that is neither natural nor healthy that I can't imagine wanting for myself or anyone I know. Also, I completely agree with everyone who says Bella is a typical damsel. I don't hate Twilight as a stand-alone book, but as the series I definitely dislike it.

You basically summed up my thoughts on twilight.
The first book was good, I did love it. I read the second one
and how Bella acted completely disgusted me. Then I began thinking
about how shallow and nonsensical the characters and the story was.
My friends seem to enjoy it
but I can't bring myself to read the last two books in the series. Whats strange about
twilight is that normally no matter how bad a book is i finish it just to see what happens to the characters
I didn't give a crap about these characters, they invoked no emotion save disgust.

I purely enjoyed twilight. Sure it was very soap opera-ish, but the fantasy element really appealed to me. And I don't mind people who hate twilight, if there was a book that everyone liked, it would be a miracle.
I think twilight is one of those books you either really like or really hate. I don't think I've met anyone who has said "eh, it's alright"

I guess this isn't exactly the thread for me, but I'm taking advantage of the opportunity to "disagree respectfully"

I'm a fan of the Twilight series. I don't think all books and stories have to be profoundly elaborate or have deep, thought-provoking characters and symbolism and themes. Some can be merely enjoyable. And, as I am a hopeless romantic, thats how Twilight is for me. :)

Just wanted to throw that out there. Not trying to convince anyone of my opinon, just stating it for kicks!
