Nerdfighters

Obviously, I hate Twilight. Everyone seems to love it so much, and I don't understand! Am I the only one?

EDIT- I didn't check this thread for a few days and it exploded. If any Twilight lovers are here just to flame us, please go away. Everyone of course is entitled to their own opinion, and if you want to agree or disagree respectfully, welcome.

Oh, I definitely noticed them in Twilight (A LOT) but either I got used to it by the time I read Eclipse or they just weren't as prevalent. There are a lot of things Meyer does do, if we're talking about the technical aspects of writing, that I really like. For example, she doesn't just say "he said, she said," she uses a lot of substitutes for "said" that I don't see very much--most writers don't really bother with that.

I agree that she should have had a better editor, though.

Hmmm.
Yes, but I also don't like when writers try to put any word, doesn't matter if it doesn't sound good, in the place of 'said'.
Mixing it up too much really annoys me.
Moving from 'murmur' to 'whispered' (God, she uses that one a lot) to 'yell' to etc. etc.
It just sounds too all over the place.

Really? I get tired of the monotony of "said." *shrugs* To each her own.

TWILIGHT SUCKS! And too all the many nerds who love it, I love you :)

I am not saying that i agree or disagree with you, but I have to wonder, have you read all of the books?

EDIT: I looked back at a comment, and I saw that you have in fact read all of them. Whoops. In that case, I guess it just isn't your cup of tea.

(Personally, I didn't like it after just reading Twilight, but I actually liked it after reading New Moon and Eclipse.)

I agree that Twilight didn't grab me that much, but once I read New Moon I was hooked.

Yes! I'm not the only one who loves New Moon! Twilight was good, a nice way to open the series and all, but I found New Moon so much better. The writing was pretty powerful - don't kill me anti-Meyer nerdfighters - because it made me very emotional. I also loved the plot, especially the end!

Well, I like to give all books a chance, until I read them. So I can't say I HATE Twilight, since I haven't actually read it. But the fact that so many teen girls are obsessed with it makes it annoying to me.

No you are not! I can't stand the series, or it's crazy fangirls. I haven't read the whole thing, but that's simply because I can't bring myself to do it. The parts I have read though, I think they read like a bad fanfic.

In place of Twilight, I'd like to suggest a lovely vampire novel called Sunshine, by Robin McKinley.

the fangirls can get intense. apparently the book has been banned at some all girls boarding schools, because the students were forming unhealthy obsessions with edward. and thanks for the suggestion!
