Nerdfighters

do you think big brother is approriate, rude, racist bullies or do you think big brother is the best thing to happen to this world since the simpson?
if you dont know what big brother is i will explain: big brother is a british progamme very popular young adults. there is also a celebrity big brother which has moderatly popular celebrities appearing on it living together in a house with no contact with the outside world. big brother acts as a minder or nanny towards the celebrities or normal folk on the programme but can only be heard through speakers and never seen. the normal folk or celebrities can speak to big brother or make requests to him by going to a room called the diary room where the celebrities or normal folk can have direct contact with big brother and big brother can talk back to them. the celebrities stay in the house for around a month and the normal folk usually spend more than a month depending on the ratings

Oh it has to be banned it is becoming so stupid these days. I mean have you seen the idiots who they have put on this year it is now becoming just not funny. I can't really think of the words to describe how mind-numbing that show is. All it does it takes Scrubs off E4 at lunchtimes are replaces it with this rubbish. Do I care what some idiots are doing 24/7 no I don't if I wanted to see animals I would go to the zoo.

Do you get I hate Big Brother? George Orwell is turning in his grave!
I used to like it. These last two seasons have gotten pretty bad. They have a new producer for it so that's probably why.

Seasons 2, 3, 6, and All-Stars were the best. Dr Will FTW!
I'm referring to the US Big Brother with this post. I haven't seen the british version.
Its such a shame about Big Brother. The first series was so good! It was a psychological experiment inspired by 1984. I wodner how many people in the current house have read anything by George Orwell. However there is one reason why it is good to watch BB - its an easy way to remind youself of your own superiority in terms of maturity and intelligence. If nothing more its good for a disbelieving laugh.
This discussion is not about the book Big Brother it about big brother like little sis and big bro
It doesn't need to be banned That's too drastic. I'm annoyed with the banning of anything. And if you think it's stupid, like myself, just don't watch it.
i think it shouldn't be banned but moved to a different, less known/public channel to allow better programmes to be shown
of course...
They are so desperate for ratings that they take the group of people most likely to have an argument, they let it boil and boil and boil, and as soon as a big fight does happen the channel refuses to take responsibility, occasionally throws out someone after the whole country turns against them and their life is ruined. The whole concept of the show makes me so angry. Yes, the people in their are usually ignorant racists/sexists/idiots ie. 'characters', but the way the press hovers and gleefully dances about every argument and tension, only to completely condemn the whole show once it croses 'the line' just gets me wound up. I'm not usually into the banning of anything, but i do think that channel 4 needs to take some responsibility for it, esp as it used to be the channel of good drama and documentaries. But i think it would take a boycott of the show for this to happen, and there are still to many idiots who find its offensive mush entertaining for this to happen in the near future.

Rant over ;)
GOD!

It is so annoying.

And it is named after one of the awesome-st books NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR
It annoys me that it takes over the C4 summer schedule. With broadband speeds that were only dreams when the programme first started in the UK in 2000, it would be easy for the programme to be completely online, either as part of the catchup service 4od or simply as a streaming service when it is on. It is merely a cash cow now, and Channel 4 are milking it, as they are entitled to, for all its worth.

On the psychological aspect of the programme and after-show effects on housemates: I myself have met two former contestants: Alison Hammond (BB3 - she broke a bed on hearing she was to be evicted) who now works for This Morning, and Anthony Hutton, who won BB6. Both seemed fairly normal in person, although Alison is the only one to appear almost daily on television. Just look at what the programme has done to Jade Goody!
