I'm gonna go with Harry Potter. Mostly, because as Stephen King put it, the only difference between JK Rowling and Stephenie Meyer, is that Rowling can write. My english teacher also agrees with me on this one.
Harry Potter by far. I read the first Twilight and I thought it was pretty good, and then I tried to read the second but couldn't. I just couldn't stand half of every single page talking about how good Edward smelled.
Mostly because if you took out what made the story unique (HP: Wizard School, Twilight: Vampires) Then you'd have a sort of "homeless to Harvard" tale with Harry Potter, but with Twilight you'd have a love story about a pathetic girl and her abusive boyfriend.
its way better written, it has way more-well rounded characters.
and it doesn't feed girls this perpetual lie that all love is perfect and a girl should get married and raise a familiy. Because I know that after Breaking Dawn, the dreams of girls around me reading it went from Docter to stay-at-home mom with a dream wedding.
