Nerdfighters

i can`t remember if it was NatureGeek, Deb, or Mel, but at least one of you gerds is responsible for pointing me to this thing i now rant about, TED, so whoever it is, i owe i huge THANK YOU! For those of you who haven't visited TED yet, I urge you to.

For anyone asking? TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and is in essence a forum for the brainiacs of the globe to get together once a year in Californ.i.a. and present their awesomeness to their peers. And now you can see every one of those presentations (roughly 20 minutes each...) here.

So I want to know which ones you like. Lets talk about that.
I'll start, natch.

1. Jill Bolte Taylor

2. Dr. Sherwin Nuland

Anyone else think these 2 people are pretty frickin' awesome??
Who is at the top of your list???

Dean Kamen tops my list. He will be the savior of humanity. He is the greatest mind on Earth at this time, and altruistic, as well.

ah yes, dean kamen - i hadn't seen this! it is people like him that make it so i can actually sleep at night. Was he involved with Ryan's Well, the charity.... hmmm... i'll have to look. I still have to watch the latest one, the prosthetic limb one. i image it is equally awesome.

thanks again!

What I love about it most is how he takes highly complex data and presents it in ways that are so easy to understand.

I love, love, love that.

It removes barriers and widens the circle of people who can participate in the conversation.

Gapminder -- the non profit that built the software -- got "acquired" by Google, I think, in that Google is now investing in the non-profit initiative.

The whole TED conference is amazing. I got to go once for work. It's truly an amazing experience to be in the same room -- and consume the same air -- as these incredibly smart people.

These TED talks are all so good.

So many TED talks to watch, and not enough time!
I really like the one by Sir Ken Robinson on schools killing creativity...but I just can't pick a favourite, too many great ones and so many I have yet to see.
