Nerdfighters

So i'm now at peace with my Nerdfighteriness but I'm starting to see a disturbing quality in my own family.
My mother walked into my room as I was watching Brotherhood 2.0. I told her a (brief) overview of who they were and about the nerdfighter movement and the following conversation occured.
Mum - You know your a nerd, don't you?
Me - ...well yeah thats the whole point.
Mum - But that's just so nerdy.
Me - Yes...I know.
Mum - And your proud of this? How can you be be proud of-
Me - THAT'S THE POINT! NERDFIGHTERS!
And then she left. I can hear her now telling my dad about how I'm a nerd.
Could I be living in a family of Decepticons?
So that got me wondering: Does anyone else have any stories about 'discrimination' for being a nerdfighter by their own family

Wow, that's harsh! My mum is a little.. confused with the concept of nerdfighters, but she supports the fact I'm at one with my nerdiness.

She's probably just thinking of the different meaning of nerd. Like the socially unaccepted one.
Not the made of awesome one!
My sister is very decepticon.
She's the 'track and feild' star of year nine (*sigh* they start so young these days.), hates reading (which is just crazy because who hates reading?) and got bored after two episodes of Brotherhood 2.0.

My dads pretty nerdy though. Thankfully.

I just told my mum about nerdfighters having awesome running in their veins instead of ordinary blood and she told me she was 'concerned about the input I was recieving.'
Which I thought was a pretty nerdy thing to say.

So they're all just in denial i guess. ^_^
I guess going up to your parents and saying that you have awesome running through your veins could cause them to question your mental health..
I recently told my parents about the whole nerdfighter thing too....but they seem to think it's just a whole bunch of fans of John's books and don't really grasp the whole concept of nerdfighting. Which is rather dissapointing because I have reason to believe that in thier heyday they would have made amazing NF"s.

I think, however, that like many parents they are concerned about what I'm doing online and they have no idea that being a Nerdfighter is pretty much the least concerning thing on the face of this planet.
I mention this forum regularly in conversations with my parents. At first they were concerned (they don't like me posting on forums much - internet safety and all that) but I managed to convince them that a forum full of nerds wasn't particularly harmful. So, they just accept the fact that I'm a Nerdfighter...and my sister is one too!

I think possibly that my Mom might have been a Nerdfighter as a teen, but not my Dad; although it's the other way round nowadays!
My parents both support me and my nerdy ways, and my mom even watches Brotherhood 2.0 with me (she was actually the one to suggest joining the ning). My mom was a huge ecoloving, people loving, knowledge retaining hippie back in the day, and is extremely nerdfighterly now. My dad isn't much of a Nerdfighter, and he doesn't really grasp the concept of 'awesome', but at least he doesn't question my nerdy ways. My brother is in denial, he's extremely nerdy, but he always claims otherwise and then pokes a little fun at me for being a nerd (but all in good humor I say).
My family doesn't really know about the nerdfighters, but we're all deffinately nerds. (Though I'm probably the nerdiest.) I guess I've taken that for granted
I totally know how you feel, my sister mocks wizard rock songs, and although both my parents are definently nerds (a librarian and a writer) but they are hoping that this is just a stage. I think that when your daughter asks to go see a live PotterCast in Pittsburgh for her birthday, even though this daughter lives six hours away, you get a little scared! Thank goodness i have my nerdfighter friends!
No. My family is pretty nerdy. I play video games with my dad, my mom is an artist, I go to art shows with my mom. I don't consider them 'nerdy' though. It's just an intelligent life-style. But "nerdy" as in the star trek watching kind and arguing about Snape, my family is not.
I think I'm very lucky when it comes to this sort of thing. I get my nerdiness from my parents. They have been table top gaming with the same group of people for about 18 years. They play online RPG's and have really gotten me interested in them too. My family really values intelligence so I think they don't have aproblem with me being here. They even watch some of the videos too when I tell them it's a good one. It's cool to grow up in a family of nerds
Yeah. It is. :)
My parents are heaven sent. My mom subscribes to them on youtube (and watches them) and my dad, when asked, will say he's a Nerdfighter. Squee! I have amazing parents.
