Nerdfighters

Last year I participated in a 50 book challenge and I fell a little short of the mark, but only cuz I started about 3 months into the year (ahem, yeah right). Several fellow nerdfighters wanted to join me in my quest, so here we are!

Start a thread with your personal goal for 2.0.0.9, and then add on as you read throughout the year. This way we get to see what everyone else is reading & keep each other in check. Feel free to add me as a friend, or you might get a friends request from me--so we keep each other in line!

Good Luck,
Allison :-)

P.S. YES, there will be a 50 Book Challenge 2.0.1.0!!

Added Note: Here's my list of what I have read so far for this year's challenge! http://nerdfighters.ning.com/profiles/blogs/my-50-book-challenge-fo...

I get into these phases where you can't stop me from reading. I'll finish one or two books (and I'm not talking short books) per DAY. However, after that I typically stop reading for a while.

What I would really like to do, though, is read 100 books this year. I don't have any particular books in mind, except a few I've seen on www.readingrants.org (my favorite teenfic recommendation website) (Oh, and I don't know if I'm the only one in the universe who says this or not, but "teenfic" is the same thing as YA. Just thought I should clarify for all the non-me's out there.)

Anyway.
Yes.
One hundred books.
Tell your friends.

I have decided to do this... only more excitingly, I think. Add on to the basics. Frill it up, and all.

Made a blog about it and everything -- It's all serious time now. Help me by checking out the blog, or suggesting here how to Frill Up My Challenge! (This can include reading books in alphabetical order, reading books with no 'e's in the title, basically anything, and I will choose which I do for which amount of time...)

Current Roster:

The Dewey Decimal System of Love -- J. Carr (Okay, it was a joke gift for Christmas, but I read it anyway -- that's what happens when you become a library tech. -- you read joke books about the DDS for fun)
The Blue Sword -- R. McKinley
A Nameless Witch -- A. L. Martinez
The Sharing Knife: Beguilement -- L. M. Bujold

Only at 4, very sad.

Post away my awesome posting pallies!

Yup! I'm doing it too! I'm pretty sure I won't actually complete the 50 books, but I feel it's better to set the bar higher, rather than lower or else I'll probably be like "eh, only 35 books to read, I got time."
this way i feel more pressured to read.
first books on my list:

1. harry potter OotP (i cant help but re-reading over and over and over again)
2. Fight Club
3. Suite Scarlet
4. Peeps
5. The Amber Spyglass (again, a re-read...i feel that they count)
:)

I'll be joining you guys : )
Not sure that I'll have time, I've been totally overloaded with homework this year...
But I do love books!
These are the books I've thought of so far, if anyone's interested:
1. Anthem
2. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
3. Inkdeath
4. Let It Snow
5. Breaking Dawn (Not a fan of the series, but considering I've already read the first three, I might as well)
6. The Lovely Bones
7. Girl, Interrupted
8. Just Checking
9. Don Quixote
10. The Golden Compass

Yay Yay Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! I really wanted the bound copy that they had at B&N of all of them, but they've been out.

The Inkworld series maketh me happy. Inkdeath not quite so much.

As a former B&N employee: I can safely say that you can have them request a copy for you. But it would be overpriced. Buy online ;-)

I got the complete Hitchhikers Guide through Sci-fi Book Club a while back and if I remember corectly it was pretty reasonable.

Don Quixote is pretty fantastic. The Lovely Bones was also good.

I'm doing this too! Two down so far!

A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
Doppelganger by Daid Stahler Jr.

I liked the first one better. The second was good, but with a crappy ending i think.
