I'm collecting information for a project for my college scholars class, if you could please respond that would be great! Thank you!

What is virtue?
What is moderation?
What is justice?
What is courage?
What is good?
What is piety?

And how does Nerdfighteria exemplify these traits?

What is virtue?
Virtue is adhering to the moral idealism defined by self, culture and everything in between.

What is moderation?
Taking only enough.

What is justice?
The attempt to do the impossible, makings things right out of the wake of a wrong.

What is courage?
The virtue of acting for the good against presented fear and risk.

What is good?

Attempting to better the world we know against the seemingly impossible, keeping life simple and cherished.

What is piety?

An defining characteristic of what your morality is pertaining to the "other" with an attitude of awe, reverence and servitude. This encompasses a person's life with devotion. Typically this concept is religious in nature but does not need to be.

Nerdfighteria operates with over arching uniting theme (cultural virtue) of decreasing world suck while increasing the awesome. Though I'm not to familiar with the community as of yet I would imagine that people have caught on that moderation ups awesome and decreases suck. I am familiar with some of the charity work this community has been apart of that increases opportunities for folks in tragically unfair circumstances and enables them to make their lives better despite the tragedy of their situation's history. They do good by those people and themselves through trying to fight all of life's suck and seek the awesome even though success seems impossible in the thick of life and news. 1,000s of nerdfighters have devoted their identity to the culture that emanates from Nerdfighteria and its mayors.

(I did my best to edit but I'm all sleepy town at the moment. I hope my answers are insightful and clear. If you require a clarification write me on my wall.)

If you want to know what Socrates has to say about some of this stuff then I suggest reading Plato's book, The Republic. It's long, but a good read and it explores the issues of Justice and Good. The other questions I am not sure I am totally qualified to define for you.

Virtue is doing the things society has agreed are morally good.

Moderation is avoiding the extremes of the behavioral because humans have developed a fixation adaptation that can be detrimental.

Justice is the activation of the repercussions society has agreed are attached to certain behaviors.

Courage is the ability to confront danger for the sake of the larger population or to protect ones progeny.

Good is what we want it to be

and Piety is the refutation of earthly desire under the misguided assumption that pleasure and the use of our senses evil.

Virtue is any act or action that either preserves good or makes good. There are many forms of virtue, including some of those mentioned on your list, such as justice and courage. This definition of virtue is highly contingent on what our definition of good is, so if you don't mind, I'll move good up on the list.

Good then, like virtue, has many forms. There are "lesser" goods, like music for example, but the highest good, everyone's goal, is happiness. Everything humanity does, every good (and I mean good in a philosophical, not consumer sense) we create, is directed towards happiness.

Virtue then, is any action directed towards making people happy. Aristotle did not view happiness as pleasure, but instead said that happiness comes from being virtuous and performing virtuous actions.

Back then, to the list.

Justice is the virtue where everyone gets what they deserve. This does not only mean that good people get what they deserve, but that bad people get what they deserve too.

Courage is the virtue that makes people do noble or brave deeds in times of danger.

Piety is honoring what is above us. Now, a lot of the time this is interpreted as honoring the gods or God, whatever you think is superior to yourself. A less controversial example is honoring the truth above our friends, as the truth is superior to us and our friendships.

Well, that's about all I got. I've only read Rhetoric; I haven't yet gathered the willpower to get through Nichomachean Ethics, which your question is more relevant to. And, as this is literally my first post on Nerdfighteria, I am in no way qualified to answer your final question.

Cheers!

I'm excited to partake in this!

Virtue: Following one's own moral map. Each individual's diverges. Following one's individual ethical path to appease one's conscience and to live up to one's own moral expectations. (For instance, for Ayn Rand and her followers, virtue may be defined as placing the individual's productivity above society. But for someone else virtue may be defined as sacrificing pleasures of self to ensure the benefit of others.)

Moderation: Homeostasis applied to different aspects of life. Even the seemingly most useful and beneficial substance can suffocate. Finding the point where the substance, place, subject reaches optimal outcome. Anymore would be too much and any less will not be enough. Example: too much water, socializing is good but too much may limit time for self reflection.

Justice: Justice is unyielding. It is when wrongdoers are disciplined.

Courage: Courage is the willpower to do what you want even if it is very challenging or might inflict a lot of loss or pain. It is being yourself no matter who or what tries to pressure you to be different

Good: Good in my book is more generic than virtue. Virtue was an individual's take. To me, good seems more like a society's take, a universal term, more broad. Good is not inflicting harm on others. It is doing what one can to improve oneself, and the wellbeing of others. It is meant to heal and move the world forward.

Piety: Piety is strong, passionate belief in something that one deems worthy of strong belief. It can be a religion, an ethical belief, a belief in oneself or the world.

Virtue is being a good person. We can only define that for ourselves.

Moderation is proper balance. Its important to note that moderation changes from person to person and from situation to situation. The only person that can really decide what is moderation is you.

Justice is was it right. It is important to note that because every body has different morals, everybody has a different sense of justice. Someone who believes justice is found in the law and somebody who believes that the law can be oppresive are going to disagree.

Courage is the amazing ability to stand up to what you're afraid of.

Good is a base idea that cannot be put into words. Its important to note that good is subjective.

Piety is a faith AND devotion in a higher being. Out of all the things on this list, its the only one I care nothing about. I'm Agnostic.
