If there would be a soulmate for everyone on this planet that would mean that your chances of meeting one would be so terribly low (i'm not going to do the math here, I'm terrible with math)..
There are 7 billion people on this earth, if there's only one soulmate for me I wouldn't want to know. I'll most probably would never meet that person, so the "countdown" would be an infinitively (?) long one and my life would run out before meeting my soulmate. Which in my book is a rather depressing thing to wait for, so I'd rather have fun with people that might not be my soulmate but are good/very good friends indeed and rather enjoy my life than to waste it waiting.

There would be no date and you would become so depressed about not being able to ever meet him or her. There's a very good chance that if everyone in the world has a soulmate that you will never meet them because they might be on the other side of the world. And what if the date was in the past and you missed it? You never talked to him or her and missed your chance. I think all it would do it cause depression and pain.
