Adventure of the Traveling Journal: The Proposal

I'll cut right to the chase.  The other day I had this idea: what if Nerdfighteria had a traveling journal?  That is, what if there was a plain journal, and nerdfighters wrote in it and sent it on to other nerdfighters?  I actually found a website that's done something like this (1001 Journals >), so I figure its possible.

 

I want to know if people would participate, but I also want to know if there'd be folks who could help out, particularly with the logistics involved (this is one of those instances where I have an idea that could work, I just have no idea how to handle it).

 

Thoughts?

 

Issue List (If anybody has ideas of how to solve these issues, let me know!)

- Organization (getting addresses of people interested, notifying people of addresses, coordinating pass-offs, etc)

- Postage (Shipping's expensive!)

That actually sounds really awesome! Sign me up! hahaha. A mobile Nerdfighting journal sound like the kind of brain-crack that I would have! then let die...

 

But really I think that this idea is made of awesome I would love to have a chance to be a part of something like this, it would be sort-of akin to a blog except real so hundreds of times better. I think that it should be easy enough to sort out the logistics for a project like this, if you want to discuss it further I would definitely be open to helping out with that end of the project as well!

I think this is a totally awesome idea but I'm not sure how we would get a journal to go to the thousands of nerdfighters all around the world and know who to send it to next unless there was either a list that we could refer to or many many journals circling around.Which is another thing, I think there are too many of us for one journal (unless we were dealing with very very few nerdfighters) so we would maybe have to get/pass around more?

Do you think that too many nerdfighters would be interested in this immediately? I imagine that it would start on the smaller scale before the majority of the nerdfighters wanted to join up. If numbers are a problem, it would be simple enough to create another journal, and label one a and the other b, and c,d etc as necessary. A list/ labeled lists could be kept and made available to the participants. Then of course there are several other ways to go about this, just one being that the journal/journals could have a centralized home/homes so only one or two people need to worry about where they are going next. Another way that it could work is that the nerdfighter who has the journal could pass it to an other nerdfighter of their choosing.

Thia sounds like it would be fun.

Maybe there could be a thread on here, where we could post our town (when we have the journal) and we could find another nerdfighter nearby and meet up with them and pass it along?

I love this idea. I wonder if it would be too difficult to just have each person pass the book on to a Nerdfighter they know?

That could be a possibility if the journal was, say, in a large city like New York or Boston, but my only worry is that it might get stuck in one geographic location.
