Nerdfighters

Hey nerds,

In English I'm doing a presentation about "Way to Adulthood" in UK, with a focus on age limits and how they shape youths.

(I'm supposed to compare it with the restrictions and youths in Sweden, but you don't have to worry about that part unless you're Swedish ;))

Any thoughts? Reflections? Trolling?

My main issue with age limits is that they are inconsistant. IE you can have sex and buy cigerettes at 16 but can't get married or buy alcohol till 18 and can't drive till 17 etc. It would make more sense to harmonise them.
What are the age restrictions in cinemas? When do you get to vote, and when are you considered to be of legal age? Also; Do cars and mopeds have different restrictions?

Age restrictions in cinemas are as follows

U = Universal, all ages

PG = Parental Guidance

12A = No child under the age of 12 can see this film unacomonoied

12 = No child under the age of 12 can see this film at the cinema

15 = No one under the age of 15 can see this film at the cinema

18 = No one under the age of 18 can see this film at the cinema

Voting in the UK is 18

Legal age is generally speaking 10, in so far as that is when you are deemed to have legal responsibility for a crime, though you will be treated differently by the CJS untill you are 18 I think. Can you be more specific about what you mean by legal age.

You can ride a moped when you are 16 and drive when you are 17, but there are some more details. Info here

You can find lots about the UK government at direct gov
