So what are everyone's favorite animes? Any suggestions? I like stuff with swords and deamons and magic and cool stuff like that.
Also... who are your fav. characters?

Permalink Reply by Kayla H on June 1, 2011 at 11:11pm Well I'm more into shojo anime, but a few I liked with swords in them are Inuyasha (it also has demons), Rurouni Kenshin, and One Piece, but these are all pretty well known ones. Black Blood Brothers was pretty good and had vampires in it. Devil May Cry was really awesome, it has both swords and demons. I haven't seen Soul Eater, but it's really popular.
If you're into other things some of the ones I enjoyed were: Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, Night Wizard, Pretear, Fushigi Yuugi, Gakuen Alice, Full Metal Panic!, and Petite Princess Yucie. Most of those have at least a bit of romance in them if not more, but they're all really good.
One that my sister really liked was called Scrapped Princess I think. I saw a couple episodes of it a while back and it seemed not bad. I'm pretty sure there's magic and swords in that one.

Eureka Seven - Great ensemble cast Drama/Adventure with a great aesthetic style, story, voice cast (english dub), and pacing. Includes giant skysurfing robots, a bit of violence and madness where suitable, and a central love story/coming of age tale.
Last Exile - Great ensemble cast Drama/Adventure with a great aesthetic style, story, voice cast (english dub), and pacing. Includes a semi-steampunk futuristic world, airship dogfights, a lot of character depth, .
Cowboy Bebop - Crazy Space Opera with a penchant for changing genre and style from episode to episode. Amazing English voice cast, story, atmosphere. Includes only three episodes that follow the actual plot and an entire season of mad fun of every type.
Digimon: Tamers (aka season 3) - Unusually deep children's show with an unbelievably gripping climactic finale. The voice acting (English) isn't amazing and there are a few filler episodes here and there but the overall show is amazing.
ToraDora - Drama/Comedy/Tsundere. Brilliant writing that requires a second or third viewing to really catch all the nice touches in the dialogue. Great voice cast (Japanese only) with lovable characters who imply a lot more than what they say up front. Covers the gambit of classic high school anime tropes but in a charming and tasteful manner that made me fall in love with just about every single character.

You could go old school, like DBZ, Sailor Moon, Evangelion, FLCL.
I also recommend:
Samurai Champloo - Love, Love Love this anime.
Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) It's pretty popular, and I actually just started reading. It takes place in Victorian England and it's about a 12 year-old Earl and his demon butler. I read the manga.
Durarara - Fantastic anime. It's one of those where you have to watch a few episodes before you get hooked, but everything is interlinking and the characters are just plain boss.
Hetalia - The fandom has increased world suck, but the anime is pretty hilarious. Countries and their stereotypes are personified as single characters. ....PASTAAAAAAA!!!
Read or Die - Interesting show about girls who fight WITH PAPER. It's pretty cool.
Shugo Chara - for the more girlish/magical girl type read. The anime diverts from the manga a LOOOOT, so I recommend the manga.
Anything by CLAMP. Magic Knights Rayearth, Angelic Layer, Card Captor Sakura, WISH, xxxHolic, and Tsubasa, which is a giant mesh of all their stories. Read with caution. The end slowly turns into a complete mind eff.
Phew... I can add more when I think of more. But I agree with Bebop and Miyazaki movies. DO EET!!!
