Nerdfighters

When I first read them, I was in love! Not with the characters, but with the literature, and as time went on and the franchise blew up, I couldn't help but feel a slight twinge telling me I should hate the books.. and I refuse to watch the movies. Now people who haven't even read the books hate them as much as anyone. It's crazy..  Anyone else notice that? Or change their opinion once the world began to recognise them? I fail to believe the saga is "the worst thing anyone has ever written  EVER". Is there any other original "Twilight" fans out there? Or am I slightly mad? Please, tell me honestly.. xD

I read the books about a year before the Twilight movie came out and went to a Breaking Dawn midnight release party and thought they were the most amazing books ever (that was before I read HP, when I thought it was stupid and boring. Haha.) Then I started to read other books that I really loved and saw the Twilight movies, which definitely could have been better. I tried to reread the books, and I realized they really aren't as great as I used to think.
I honestly tried to read the books when they were first released but I was completely turned off by the terrible writing. It was something that I couldn't get passed. And no matter how much the idea intrigued me, the story as a whole wasn't fantastic enough for me to overlook her writing. Harry Potter started off the same way, but Rowling eventually improved with her writing. The thing that turns me off from the fandom as a whole are the fans. I don't mind crazed people, because I am one too, given the appropriate circumstances, but they're just so... Unwilling to hear other opinions on the matter.

I really don't think the books are worth all the attention that they're receiving. But I do understand why some people like the books. They just weren't my thing. Definitely not the absolute worst thing ever written, I've read worse.
I read the books right before Twilight came out and I did like them. It was a relatively engaging story and a good idea for a story. Now though I look at them and wonder how I could have ever liked them at all. The characters are really shallow and it wasn't really written that well. Oh and Breaking Dawn kinda ruined the entire series for me. It was just so ... she put too many ideas that never came up in the other books in it. Haven't gone to see the movies and don't intend to because the book wasn't that good in the first place and the movie looks even worse.
I read them two and a half years ago or so when I was in 7th grade, and I am ashamed to admit that I was in love with Edward Cullen. I have since recovered from what my dad refers to as "Twilightis." I've grown out of it. I was, however, a fan before it really went big.
Now I really dislike (I don't think I'm really at the hate point) them, but I don't make a big deal about it. As I said to my friend, "I read them. Here's my advice to you: don't."
