Nerdfighters

So I sort of remembered seeing a discussion for last year's Banned Book Week but I thought I'd start a new one for Banned Book Week '09. Because I can. This year it's September 26 - October 3. I propose we get together and try to do something to help give this awesome event even more publicity, but I can't think of something Nerdfighter-worthy at the moment, so I'm going to make you do it. Post your suggestions here! Let's make it big!

And of course, just discussion of awesome books and why they were banned is awesome too. I'll get that one going with this book: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. If I hadn't read an article about this book being banned by some schol in Illinois, I probably would have never picked it up. But I did, and it was so good that I stayed up until five am reading it. So there book banners :p. Sure, there were some explicit parts, but that is no reason to ban a perfectly great book! Anyway, that's my mini rant-ish on that banning, now let loose your own!

DFTBA, not that you guys ever do :)

I didn't know that the Sherman Alexie book was banned in Illinois! I actually have to read that book for and American Indian Literature class that I'm in right now. Hmm, interesting.
