Nerdfighters

There are many self proclaimed nerds in our modern day society, one of them is the TV show "Glee". The writers and the producers, including the casts seems to be mocking us in the face and they parade these people as if they are really representing one of the social minorities, the battered, the humiliated, the isolated, and the passionate hobbyist(that's us).

Here in the Philippines, if you wear a nerd glasses, you're already considered as a nerd, despite not being one. And nowadays, in the media, they are saying things like "nerds are hot" or "nerds are sexy". I'm not saying we're special amongst other members of the social caste, but this is getting out of hand.

Do you get what I am trying to imply?

Elitist.

I think it's a form of nonconformity. It's sad really, all we have is our individuality and they're taking that away.

Then again, I prefer to avoid labels altogether; call me crazy...

I HATE THAT. That seems to happen with Harry Potter at my school. Like, they've never actually read it, they just obsess over it to seem 'nerdy,' and therefore, 'cool.'

I also hate that, they'll take pictures of themselves in nerd glasses and be all, "OMG kcaiytlin! y r such a nerd ;D <3." AURGH!

nerd glasses are becoming a trend in my school, all the ''popular kids'' have started wearing them.

mine too apperently they are ''cool''

oh man! I hate that too! I always get made fun of (to a playful extent) for my Harry Potter passion, and now everyone at school goes on about how they loved Dobby and it was so sad when he died. If they've read the books then okay, say what you will. Otherwise SHUT THE HELL UP!

I agree. One of my friends (more of an acquaintance) was all like "Let's have a Harry Potter Marathon." and then i asked her if she was a potterhead and she was like no... it just seems cool. And then i wanted to run into the wall.

I think being nerdy is the new trend, I hate being trendy.
pfft get over yourselves. Let the people play. You start sounding like decepticons ;P

I don't see what the problem is. Popular people are embracing nerdy things and their own inner nerdiness and this is winning converts to the Nerdom of Nerdfighteria! Surely Decepticons becoming more nerdfighterlike or in fact becoming nerdfighters is a phenomena to celebrate not deprecate. Everyone has the right to be or become a nerd :)

Well the thing is they're not really embracing the nerdiness. It's more of like wear nerdy glasses because it's trendy and then make fun of the kid who is obsessed with Doctor Who. That would be super awesome if they were becoming actual nerds though. :)
