Nerdfighters

It has come to my attention that there are Christians everywhere. (Call me stupid if you like) There are also homophobes everywhere. Have you noticed?

My Blog on the matter: http://nerdfighters.ning.com/profiles/blogs/the-world-is-full-of

We all know Christianity exists in the majority (in the U.S. at least). Is the majority homophobic too?
How does that make you feel?
Are you gay or Christian?

EDIT: I don't have a problem with Christians. I don't have a problem with gays. I don't support generalizations. Not all of anything is something. I am not implying any hate towards any group. And last but not least, I am not saying that Christianity and homophobia come hand-in-hand, but if you want to take it to that level, go ahead.
THIS TOPIC IS OPEN FOR WIDE RESPONSES. That's why I was a bit vague. And I dunno where you all live, but I have lived in a lot of places and seen a lot of homophobia and I am still subjected to it.

1. You clearly don't know your Bible very well. The Bible came out of the Anchient near east. In that culture, kissing was not uniformly a sexual/romantic symbol. There is a very big diffrerence in the language and style of description of this kissing and the kissing that you see in songs of Soloman which are those of lovers. The Bible also makes no refrence to a physical relationship. While you might say "that's because it was frowned on" may I remind you that the Bible is not shy from telling the truth about the dirty laundry of David on other occasions. Also, the Bible uses the phrase "love more than any woman" to refer to the levels of devotion, loyalty and sacrifice David and Johnathan went to for each other. There is no evidence that would suggest David and Johnathan were in any kind of Homosexual relationship.

2. Jesus IS clear on Homosexuality. Just because he does not list every aspect of the sexual immoraltiy codes, does not mean he is unclear. He says very specificly on several occasions that sexual immorality is sin, which refers to a long list of specific sins.
Mark 7: 20-23 are Jesus referencing "sexual imorality" which is a link back to the OT morality code.
I feel like i should address this in some way <-- is the only thing left from my original message
I guess I'm just not ready to talk about this stuff

uhhh, so christians and gays... should get along. I'm an idiot
umm.
The whole love the sinner, hate the sin thing is totally fine by me. All people are people, some just go off track. Sometimes it takes a good person to try to get them back.
I think this is mostly accepted by people here, and the dispute is where the track is.
I definately don't see gays as sinners, as I would, say, murderers.
Then again, I'm a crap christian and the holy dudes would probably not allow me to represent them in any way.
What's this thread addressing? I just realised I'm rambling about nothing... well, I'll leave it there for lulz, the rest wont be very insightful anyway.
Am I gay or christian? HA, I've got no huggin' idea. BAM, I guess I can't be condescending to anyone then. I'm a christian raised, but only believed in it properly when I was scared. Like I said, I'm crap at faith.
Don't get me started on sexuality.
I don't wanna leave on that note.
Christianity and homophobia don't go hand in hand.
It's a very common combination, very. I am ashamed to say so. Even so, my whole years as a christian, I have never been homophobic, nor have any of my close christian family and friends (though mum's a bit blunt, like old people and racism). I mean, there are probably a few in there. Homophobes. This is all pointless isn't it?
Why is this thread here? Nerdfighters bitch about christians too much as it is. I swear half of our discussions involve a heated theological debate.
More importantly, why am I replying? I have nothing of value to say. At this point I'm just having a jolly ramble.
Screw it, I'm clicking post.

anyway
I have books to read concerning woodland creatures who must do battle with searats and the like
I find these books much more interesting than discussions about christianity, homosexuality, and both together (despite my own ridiculous situation) and suggest them to anyone sick of paying nerdfighters a visit only to find ANOTHER christian vs [anyone really] discussion full of crap all replies like mine, semi-apathetic "can't we just get along" replies by awesome people who deserve cake, and flame wars between two people on opposite sides of a war most people are content to sit next to and sigh at.
Anyway I'm done pissing people off, I really do respect you all but gah, I'm just gonne leave that flood there in case someone cares. Why not, right?
oh dear, that is longer than I thought
(that's what she said)
Well said, sir!
I'm glad someone got something out of that
lol, I felt like the biggest idiot with my lack of intelligent theological knowledge and tendancy to go waaaay off track
awww geez.... do i really wanna get all wrapped up in this topic? It's a juicy one I'll give it that... It'll have to be all or nothing, so I'll just post this and if someone replies with something I disagree with, I'm going to town on the whole thread haha
It doesn't come hand in hand, the thing about religion is, is that it contradicts itself a lot which means religious people are very good at one of two things. 1. Not reading their religious book and just believing whatever some guy tells them, or 2 Reading their religious text and interpreting it in a way that is pleasing for them. You can also just listen to some guy talk and decide if you like his interpretation without ever reading the book too but whatever.

So some people realize that hating men who like men (or just hating the 'sin') is silly because it doesn't actually make sense, and other people just accept that they're supposed to hate gays. It depends on the individual however I will say that Christianity can be blamed for spreading the hate.

Also isn't homophobia a really stupid term? Most of the time they're not actually scared of them (unless they think gays are trying to take over the world in which case they're really stupid) the term should be changed to something else.

Also all murderers are killers HAHA all of anything can be something thanks to tautology.
I am both.
Homophobia is very prominent where I live.
It's something you just have to learn to deal with, I think.
So I really can't keep my mouth shut on this subject, as I'm an ally AND Catholic. I suppose I'm a little different from the average Catholic because I've grown up with a gay uncle and his partner for the majority of my life, and my entire family supports it (and I mean my entire family... 50+ of extended family that is pretty Catholic). And maybe it's because my church is progressive. I don't know. Here's what I've noticed over the years - I've seen a lot of gay couples over the years, and frankly, they sin WAY less than the average straight churchgoer. They commonly have very healthy relationships, as opposed to the many heterosexual marriages that unfortunately end in divorce (which the Church is not a big fan of). Not only that, but according to Catholic ideology, God knows you from before you were conceived. If one is born gay (as most are), then how would God have known about it and NOT be in support of it? Food for thoughts. I think it's important for Christians (not just Catholics) to remember that the Bible was not written by God, but by men. A few thousand years of the scriptures being twisted by shoddy translations, political aims, et cetera, et cetera, and so forth, doesn't necessarily help this if you believe that the authors of the Bible were legitimate. So, in no way does this represent the Catholic POV of anything, but it does offer up what this Catholic has to say.
You may or may not be born gay, but being gay in itself is not a sin. What is a sin is the action, as is outlined in the Bible, in much the same way that all temptations are not the same things as sins. Lots of people are born with a predisposition towards a sin, doesnt mean they are exucsed from commiting that sin.
Somebody should go warn all of those giraffes then or else god is going to send them all to gay giraffe hell.
