Nerdfighters

Joss Whedon's new show Dollhouse had its primere last night, i have heard lots of mixed reviews and i want to know what the nerdfighters think! I for one, felt a little betrayed that a main stream decepticon song like "Just Dance" entered the sacred world of Whedon!

Absolutely! Even when Echo is "rented out" as a sex toy she is still a bad ass (episode 2)
I think that's kinda a point that Joss Whedon is making. This idea of women being dolls is horrifying and wrong.
There are male actives/dolls, too. It turns PEOPLE into objects, which is the big moral issue of the show.
I was watching Howie Do It (my sister made me...I don't really see the whole purpose of the show, but whatever), and then I tuned in for the premiere of Dollhouse. I liked it, actually. The second episode was pretty good, and I'm interested in finding out more about the history. So yeah, I think it's okay.

And... I totally agree with you Madi. You make an excellent point.
It has been a two episodes now and I still can not make up my mind about it. It definitely is not his best but it is not bad but that comes with the territory of it being Whedon. I am just not sure what I think about the show just yet. It is a bit of an old story mixed with a new twist. It seems to be very Whedonish but not the best of him.
Episode 3! Thoughts?

Personally, loved it. I was totally shocked by Victor; I had had the cute neighbor pegged as the active keeping an eye on Ballard! More and more of Echo is coming out, she's obviously not being completely wiped after each engagement. Even at the end of this episode, you can see that her face isn't as blank as it was before, she knew to warn Sierra off, and even Sierra seemed to understand why. Am I the only one who thinks that Topher (science guy) knows more about everything than he's letting on?

Also: Alice, maybe we should put a *SPOILER* alert in the title? I just realized that we've been getting a little specific about stuff.
I, personally, don't thin Topher knows very much. I might be wrong, but I think he's living under the "lightning don't strike twice" umbrella.I think he has vague idea of why Alpha first went haywire, but he doesn't know exactly why, and he certainly doesn't believe it would ever happen again, this time with Echo.
Thats a good idea, thanks! (in response to sinnymun)
AHHH this thread is distracting me from THISISNOTTOMDOTCOM!!!
Dollhouse is certainly not Firelfy. It lacks the poetry and human connection that I personally experienced from Firefly. Also, most of the characters are necessarily only vaguely defined which makes it harder to connect to. Hopefully Joss can ramp up the awesome here soon. Otherwise it will just be another entertaining show without much other value.

P.S.
When you compare anything to Firefly, its hard for that something to ever win out. =p
I think part of what made Firefly so special was the chemistry all the actors had with each other. I agree that Dollhouse definitely doesn't have that magic, hell I can't really think of another show that had that.
Honestly, I dont really like Eliza's acting, it seems kind of forced
i do like the show but i wish she would be as fantastic as joss promised, he said that he wanted to show what a great actress she is but honestly, i think he overestimated her.
