You all got to read such great books.... I detested assigned reading untill this year... Fredrick Douglass..autobiography...::shudders::

I'd have to say Catcher in the Rye
my favourite assigned text so far this semester is the narrative of the life of frederick douglass, an american slave, which we're currently discussing in american lit.
I read a bunch of that in my US History class this semester. It's really interesting.
Lord of the Flies and Pride and Prejudice.

I absolutley loved them both.
So far mine has been Of Mice and Men. I wish I couldn't been assigned The Outsiders, I love that book :)

I also liked Tuesdays With Morrie and The Giver.
Grade School: The Giver, Journey, Number the Stars, and Sign of the Beaver
Middle School: The Devil's Arithmetic, The Boys’ War, The Endless Steppe
High School: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, The Odyssey, Fahrenheit 451
College and Grad School: Oh there are sooo many but a short list-
Mona in the Promised Land by Gish Jen
A Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Kindred by Octavia Butler
Life’s a Bitch by Roberta Gregory
The Making of the Middle Ages by R.W. Southern
Honor and Violence in the Old South by Bertram Wyatt-Brown
The Great Cat Massacre by Robert Darnton
The Black Death: Natural and Human Disaster in Medieval Europe by Robert S. Gottfried
Elementry school : The Giver, Holes and Daniel's Story (all ironically were in grade 7)

High School: 1984, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Crysallids(sp?) (until the ending .. I hated the ending)

My lit class this year: The Picture of Dorian Gray
I would have to say Tangerine by Edward Bloor. :]

[My school doesn't let us read awesome books like some of the other ones in this thread. xD Tangerine is excellent though.]

to this day its my favorite assigned book
and in 10th grade, the once and future king
i mostly liked the first part with arthur's adventures
i dont read many of my assigned books
they are usually pretty boring and/or i dont have time to read them
