Nerdfighters

I just realized that no one every really talks about non-fiction books. my favorite are:

-'The diet for teenagers only', can't remember the authors names at the moment. this is an awesome book. i'm not fat but this isnt really a diet. its more about living healthy and knowing how to eat well-balanced meals and how much of what foods you should eat per day depending on your bmi and stuff. its awesome. sometimes i read it just for fun. plus its one of those non-fics that are fun to read and it attracts you because its all pretty colors and nicely laid out and what not.

my other favorite is cookbooks. any kind. i just love them. i like to go through them sometimes and just read the recipes and think of meals surrounding a certain recipe. im a cooking nerd. my favorite cookbook is 'teens cook'(in my pants) and i cant remember the authors name of that either but its two sisters named meg and jill something i think.

so what are you favorite non-fics?

That's an easy one. My favorite non-fiction book is "Without You" by Anthony Rapp. I'm a huge RENT fan and it was amazing to see the show from a new perspective.

OMG YES. I love that book!
Sorry this reply is so long after you posted that, but I had to proclaim my love of Anthony and that book.

The Vinland Sagas: The Norse Discovery of America

My family can be traced back to the 11th century Norse clans, so it's cool for me to read.

I thought I was the only one who read that! I thought it was kind of choppy, though.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius -- Dave Eggers
The Lost Continent -- Bill Bryson

AHWOSG is a memoir, so it's technically non-fiction. And The Lost Continent is simply amazing. :)

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

And if it was not a fictionalized account, and I don't believe it was, Farewell to Manzanar.

i couldn't get through Anne Frank. i'm not really sure why, because i can easily go through the dullest of books.
is it worth giving another shot?

probably Lies My Teacher Told Me, even though I only skimmed it. It was fascinating,nd dsappointing, because it doesn't even bring up the fact that textboooks leave out the American Internment of Japanese-Americans entirely.

I just bought this book on amazon (heared about it from my history teacher of all people) and am waiting for it to arrive.

My favourite....well, I'm not entirely sure if this is actually nonfiction because it is this collection of essays about the legal system of Harry Potter. I'm going to say it's nonfiction because it kind of discusses IRL legal things as well and justifies (or condemns) legal decisions made in the wizarding world and condemns the political system of the wizarding world in comparison to IRL political systems. You can find it at (without the <>, I think). Or just search "Harry Potter and the Law" (the title of the collection).

I really enjoy true-crime novels, my current favourite in that genre is "The Killer Book of Serial Killers", but I'm probably just a nutter.

aside from that I don't really like nonfiction books. I mean, I enjoy doing research about things, but just to read....there's not much out there. Maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places though!

Stiff by Mary Roach. She's amazing. She's a scientist who writes hilarious books about research she's done. Stiff is about what cadavers are used for when they're donated to science, Spook is about scientific research into the soul, and Boink is about sex. I haven't read Boink yet.

I was going to pick Stiff too! I absolutely loved that book when I read it. I would totally have bought it for myself, if, y'know, I had any money...
