Nerdfighters

I started a thread like this a while ago, and it got tonnes of feedback.

All I ask is no Vampire Books.

But apart from that, knock your selves out. I need to get some good reads.

I need to make the perfect booklist.

Ready, mark, set, go!

omg is divergent that good? I just got it from my friend for my birthday and i cant wait to read it

I love Divergent. Everyone I know who has read it loves it. There will be a movie.

I have to say, I don't have a specific favorite fiction, however I do come back and read the book "Define Normal" by Julie Anne Peters a lot.
My favorite is The Mortal Instruments series (City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, and City of Fallen Angels)by Cassandra Clare, and though it has vampires and they play a large part, it mostly revolves around Demon Hunters (called Shadowhunters). The prequel series, The Infernal Devices, she wrote for it is good so far too, though the first book, Clockwork Angel, is the only out so far. There are still two more books coming out for The Mortal Instruments, City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire, and there are two more coming out for The Infernal Devices, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess. Their is supposed to be a graphic novel eventually, and there is a movie that they are still casting for though the main two characters are going to be played by Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower. Hope this helped (And you don't hold the vampire part against me)!

AHHH For Science Fiction:
I'd deff. start with "A Stranger In A Strange Land" by Heinlein, then maybe go to an Asimov anthology?

Scott Westerfeld's "The Risen Empire" is pretty interesting too!

For Historial Fiction:

I'd read "The White Queen" by Philippa Gregory

Fantasy:
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

So You Want To Be A Wizard by Diane Duane

The Mortal Instruments are pretty good... (But include vampires ! ) .... I really like The Host - Stephenie Meyer (And they have absolutely nothing to do with shitty Twilight.) Uglies/Pretties/Specials series by Scott Westerield ..... this help? x

Harry Potter, of course. That goes without saying. The Hunger Games, I suppose, though I frankly hated the last one. The Inheritance Cycle is a series of cliches, but I still like it. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is pretty awesome.

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan I think, it's a series but takes a long time to get anywhere for books 3 through to 8 or something with only a few things being resolved while other issues pop up. The first couple and the newest ones are pretty exciting though :D

The Three Musketeers, perhaps? I would also recommend any of Shakespeare's works. Except for Romeo and Juliet. I've always found that one pointless.
Wintergirls By Laurie Halse Anderson
i think that everyone into books should read "the alchemist", i also agree with many things that people have already mentioned. also, for those outside australia who may have not heard of John Marsden, read "tomorrow when the war began" and the series based off that. also "rowan of Rin" is quite good, also the 'rondo' series by emily rodder. 'brave new world', any books by jules verne, and the jungle book(the classic, not the disney one). also, i believe that everyone should read the adventures of sherlock holmes

Watership Down by Richard Adams

Animal Farm by George Orwell

The Catcher In the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradburry
