Do you think gaming is addictive, and do you think that gaming time should be phisically restricted?
I think that it is a little bit addictive, but should not be restricted because if people want to spend 3 hours on a video game then let them, it is a free world, let us be free

It has been found to increase dopamine levels which can in time create a classical conditioning situation where one can become addicted to games. I would disagree, however, that any form of restrictions should be put on video games. If we have responsible parents at a young age making their kids play outside when they can then we won't have addicted teens of adults.

yeah, I was watching a program that said this, it's words was "it is a chemical that is fueled by gaming and drugs" I know a bit about dopamine, and I know that it is used to create the feeling we call "adrenaline" which is made by anything that makes us feel on edge, gaming, drugs, but also driving fast, rollercoasters even arguing and exercise, it annoyed me that they would portray this thing as bad when it just makes us feel better

it turns out you get dopamine releases from being able to click a button and receive information as well(aka stumbleupon)

there's no need for restrictions on video games any more then there is a need for restrictions on any other hobby (does this sentence make sense)

I used to play World of Warcraft for a minimum of 14 hours a day, usually more (am not exaggerating at all). Then one day, I stopped. I just went cold turkey and afterward I had no desire to play. So for me, gaming is not addictive, but I can't speak for the rest of the world.

The same things happens with me. I'll play one game for ages, then I'll just stop.

I COULD stop spending so much time playing video games if I wanted to, but I have never wanted to.

Are video games a chemical now? Do we shoot them up into our blood to get artificial highs? Do we become chemically dependent on them? Do we get physically ill when we aren't playing?

Video games are about as addicting as HAM radio, putting together computers, card games, gambling... etc.

It's possible to get addicted to any thing. That doesn't make everything on the planet addictive.

That's stupid.

good point, that's kind of how I view it
are they treating this badly because we enjoy it? It doesn't do us much harm, and we choose to do it.
one thing I will say, live and let live; what happened?

Hmm. Yes. I think it can be.

Then again, I think nearly anything can be addictive. There are sex, adrenaline, and caffeine addicts. (Even lifestyle addicts.) Why can't there be gaming addicts? Do I think it's a growing epidemic? No. But I do think it can become a problem. And it should be looked at. (As should any type of addiction.)

If you're having fun, there should be no limit.
