Nerdfighters

For quite a while now I have been wanting a full fledged sci-fi novel. Any recommendations?

Fool's Run by Patricia A. McKillip. It's a little out there but it's...

magical.

Okay. To throw a little modern SF in the mix:

The Old Man's war series by John Scalzi.

No joke, amazing stuff.

Scott Westerfeld on so many levels.

I'd go with Terry Pratchett's discworld series. It's hilarious, beautifully written, devastatingly intelligent, with superb characters and it's all set on a flat circular world balancing on the back of four collosal elephants riding on the inconcievably big star-turtle, The Great A'Tuin.
Also read 'The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy' by Douglas Adams. I've learnt EVERYTHING from that book.

Anything from Adams, Pratchett or even Neil Gaiman is worth looking into. They're all excellent!

And here comes a page from the old school nerd fighter library. Robotech: the Macross Saga by Jack McKinley. If you're familiar with the cartoon/anime, forget about it. The novelized version is so much better (well, when James Luceno is doing the writting that is)

I just finished Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series, and now I'm on his Time Odyssey series... Both AMAZING. The book of 2001 is so infinitely better than the movie...

the Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin. It's the best Sci-Fi book I've ever read. Legit.

One Vonnegut reference?

Vonnegut hated to be called a science fiction writer.

enders game. The book is nearly two times older than I am, but it is amazing. It has alot of psychology in it to. Hope that helps.

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
It's a classic, and still relevant.
