Nerdfighters

*UPDATE: It was just the chat room beeping lol I'm such and idiot....

I bought my computer about a year ago, and now today it just started this random beeping noise...There is no icon flashing or anything. I run my virus scanner to see if it was a virus but the beeping didn't go away after an hour long scan. I just download Avast a few days ago...Could that be it?

I know that there are some techie nerds here on Nerdfighters. So please help. Its not constant. It's just a random beeping noise (( kinda cute, but annoying)) and sometimes with beep a lot, multiple times and then stop for a while and come back again....It seems to stop when my computer is doing something important, like download updates for my computer or when It was doing the virus scan, but it pops right back up again afterwords.....

I know that its coming from my speakers cuz it stops when i turn the volume down. Please help me and if you know a way to make this stop, just comment, ok?

Thanks everyone! DFTBA!

I just have a few questions and I'll look it up and hopefully be able to help out.

What operating system are you running?
What company made the computer?
If possible what model of computer is it?

Hope to be of any use,

Hi, Maren,
Since you said the sound is coming through your speakers and not as a computer warning beep, I would suspect a software problem, possibly a damaged sound driver file, or a damaged sound file.
First, did you install any hardware or software right before the beeps started?
Try this:
Go to: start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager
The problem should be visible straight away.

The sound video and game controller may have a colored warning sign. If it does, click on it. It open a menu with a list of controllers, one of which should have a warning on it as well. Open the warning and a menu will appear with five headings and the device status. Choose driver and then choose update driver. Windows will look for a newer or better driver and if it does not find one, it will try a repair.

If there's no visible error and you haven't installed anything recently, let me know. Good luck!
:)
