Hi, been lurking for awhile, considered myself a nerdfighter for longer, but I finally decided to post, so I'm posting.
I'm fishing for potential friends. I moved out a year ago, haven't managed to find any friends locally (not that I'd really had any back home), and recently my closest friend committed suicide after four years of me trying to convince her life was worth living. I guess she never believed me.
Anyway, I've been a fan of the Vlogbrothers (and WheezyWaiter and charlieissocoollike and Ze Frank and Elmify and blah blah...) for several years now, and I really love what Nerdfighteria stands for and what it's managed to accomplish. I come here hoping I can find a community, or at least a couple people I can call friend. So will anyone adopt me, the sad case that I am?
I'm a Whedonist (mostly a Buffy fan, but I watch all things Joss), Phile (X-Files), I have a cat, and I consider myself a gamer (despite the epic horribleness that is my laptop's processing ability...seriously, it can barely run League of Legends on the lowest settings; installing Amnesia or Fallout or something is only a distant, faint fantasy of mine). I enjoy chai teas and complaining about the weather. I also enjoy singing in the shower and in the kitchen and everywhere else even though I strongly suspect my neighbors can hear me. I'm starting to sound like a dating advertisement.
So how about it? See anything we might have in common? Yes? No? Don't care? Speaketh and I shall replyeth, 'cause I've got nowhere else to go and I'd welcome the company.

And everyone has something in common. We're both female, and we both have ten fingers (right?).
I'm sure we could find more!
Permalink Reply by Hannah on May 28, 2012 at 4:04pm Hello there!
I don't live anywhere near you, not even in the same country, just thought I'd point that out in case you mind. Although, I do have an Aunt who lives in San Francisco, and I'm going to visit her for seven weeks this summer. :D
However, I can relate to you because I'm generally a loner, who just happens to have managed to find people who I can call friends. Not many though, but enough. I'm moving to uni soon, so I'll be facing a similar situation to you. I have two cats (I win!) whom I absolutely adore :3 They are my babies. And I'm quite a gamer myself, I was lucy enough to get a PS3 for Christmas and have aquired Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Oblivion, Portal 2 and Assasin's Creed since then. I love singing, I take singing lessons, although I haven't been for a while because of exams and revision.
Okay, that's it I guess. :)
Permalink Reply by Casey on May 28, 2012 at 4:28pm Eh, most of my friends are/were internet friends anyway, so no worries. I actually like it, so I can ask questions like "What does marmite taste like?" or "How offended WERE you by that episode last night?" Where do you live (if you don't mind my asking)?
Oh, I'm jealous. I've got a 360, but I'm obsessed with games involving dragons and there's this game called Lair that was only ported to the ps3 that I once convinced myself would be worth spending a rent check to pay for a ps3 just to play it once. But I've played all the games you mentioned. What'd you think of Skyrim versus Oblivion, and have you played Morrowind (always interesting to hear people's opinions on the evolution of the TES games)?
Oh, and what's your cats' names? My cat is Nala, because when I was a kid (and, you know, now still) I looooved Lion King.
