The title is pretty self explanitary but basically this is a petition that once it has has 50,000 signitures they are going to send to governer of Alaska to urge them to end this barbaric sport.

You are probably right, men and women who feel inadequate in some way are always going to take it out on something and they have been raised by parents who encourage bloodletting all the more likely they are to vent their frustrations on animals.

The only hope is for the wolf to be placed back on the endangered list. By the way, my organization has started a 527 to raise funds in honor of the wolf by that name that was killed by Ryan Counts of Pray, Montana because she did not show fear......I guess that is the only way a hunter to gain respect...and they even mount the heads and bodies so they can reflect on their accomplishment.....killing a dog at 100 or more yards.

Again, why should they be forced to stop? So far all I've seen is "think of the animals".

Well if maybe if their prey stopped getting hunted by people or we made an effort to preserve them then wolves wouldn't have to eat children.

Why should we prosocute (spelling?) a whole species just because a couple are maneaters anyway?

We are not prosecuting ( :) ) a whole species. We are not actively hunting them down to exterminate their entire species. Are these wolves protected under endangered animal laws? If not, you're not going to stop people from hunting them. It would be just as successful as getting people to stop fishing and to stop hunting deer, only with this, wolves have been known to kill humans. This means that hunting them to the point where they stay out of highly (for Alaska) human populated areas is not going to be considered a problem, but more of a benefit, unless you're talking about organizations like Peta.

I agree totally with you about the fear of living near maneaters and that it is much more convienient (omg i cant spell...) to keep wolf numbers low but put it this way;

there are lots of humans about. Humans kill other humans sometimes. Some humans live in fear of other humans.
would it be okay to chase people about in helicopters (or snowmobiles (: ) till the point of collapse then shoot them?

I agree that it will be close to impossible to stop it and i realise that everything i've written so far makes me sound like an ignorent bleeding-heart animal lover (which i am...sort of) but do you think there is a way we could..help? like maybe keeping them out of civilised areas without killing them?

I dont know...ideas welcome...not that we could really make a difference...

Reservations and/or tagging them. Mainly tagging them, but only in a way that is almost impossible to see so that it won't affect them in the wild.

I'm with Matt it doesn't mater if they shoot the wolves from the ground or a helicopter they end up dead either way and if you do ban aerial hunting the hunters will just go out on snowmobiles.
