And very unlikely. I prefer rational approaches to problems, where you can meet in the middle on opposing viewpoints.

Why end just this? Have you heard what they're doing in Canada? They probably have so many other animals being killed, but no one cares.

Exactly!!

Finally, someone agrees with my opinion :)

I don't mean to sound pathetic or whatever but...i feel so sorry for them

and not sort of patronisingly sorry, like; i look down my nose at you, worm. but sorry because feeling that is the only thing i can do at the moment!
Matt's right - the petition probly won't work but at least we can all feel a weensy bit better (:

A bit better by trying to take someone's favorite past time away from them? :( (not mine, btw. I've never been hunting)

Reply to This

Matt, but when they hunt, they're taking an animal away from their favorite past time. But, most importantly, they're killing an animal for fun.

Reply to This

Not just for fun, I'm sure, but for the experience. A lot of time for the meat. Other people for the hide. Some for the thrill of being in a man vs. nature environment.

I don't understand this "animals are equal to humans" stuff. Someone explain?

Reply to This

I'm sorry, but how are they not equal to us? They have meat in their bodies, a beating heart, and possibly children. We have all the same things they do. Just because we're at the top of the food chain means we have to eat them, and to what, show power?

Most humans eat meat to stay alive and well we don't have to eat them being at the top of the food chain DOSE give us the right to eat them.
"Just because we're at the top of the food chain means we have to eat them, and to what, show power?"

I do it for the taste, the protein, the iron, the omega 3 fatty acids, etc.

Basically, I eat food for nutrition, and animals are a part of that.

As to how they're not equal to us... Have you seen a cat fly a plane? How about an elephant sculpt a statue? What about a giraffe explain electricity? Hell, what about a spider sing the blues? We are far more intelligent than these animals. We have a special kind of sentience. Now, does that mean that I think we should be able to kill anything we want for any reason we want? Not really, but I don't think that a dog is equal to me, nor should be equal to me, in court of law. I don't think that an animal should be paid money for their "slave labor" on farms either. So back to what I was saying, how are animals equal to us? The fact that we are both carbon based life forms doesn't really give me a justifiable answer.
I always think it's silly when people think they're at the top of the food chain. Come on, guys; it's fifth grade science.

The food chain = autotrophs or chemotrophs, then heterotrophs (including herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores [humans]), then scavengers, detrivores, and decomposers. Humans aren't the top of the food chain; saprotrophs are.
