Permalink Reply by Danno on August 25, 2012 at 9:20pm wow, i don't know if this implies that you really wanted to watch or if the show really wanted you to watch...
Permalink Reply by Isobel Talya on August 26, 2012 at 3:36pm I started in ninth grade. I had been ordered to watch it by several of my nerd friends, and I did. It was (obviously) awesome and I (naturally) loved it. I wasn't really confused at all, unless the Doctor was mentioning some crazy math science no-human-is-even-supposed-to-understand-this thing. I considered the show quite impressive from the first time that I watched it.
Permalink Reply by Dan the Alpaca on August 26, 2012 at 9:40pm Well, I have two times when you could say I was introduced to Doctor Who. The first time, I entered my sisters room, and her TV just happened to display the episode that most of us know by the name of 'Evolution of the Daleks.' That was a completely accidental introduction, and at that time I merely continued on living, being utterly confused by a seemingly normal alien, who just happened to have penises protruding from his head.. THAT WAS THE FIRST, AND ACCIDENTAL TIME. The second time, I was incredibly skeptical about watching it, but a fellow Nerdfighter of mine, Danja, wouldn't let up and pushed me towards the Doctor Who fandom; and it so happens that the day she pushed me the furthest, I was incredibly bored, and without anything to do. So I did the logical thing. I hopped onto a website and watched the very first episode of Doctor Who 2005... At that time, I could not be more surprised and judgmental. I thought the graphics were terrible, and the CGI, was poopie, and the show had an extremely limited budget. BUT SOMETHING FROM THAT VERY FIRST EPISODE PULLED ON A HEARTSTRING AND I ENDED UP SITTING AT MY COMPUTER TILL 4 AM WATCHING SEASON 1. I love it now, and my life revolves around it.

Permalink Reply by Jedi with a TARDIS on August 29, 2012 at 12:16pm I was first introduced to Doctor Who in the Fall of 2007. A friend of mine had the first the seasons on DVD, and showed me the second episode, as well as a few select episodes from season 2 and 3, including the season finales. My initial reaction to the show was how epic it was for a BBC sci-fi show, seeing as, in the second episode, the world burns. After that, I was definitely interested, but with a lack of cable and a rotten internet connection at the time, it was difficult to continue watching the show. Fast forward to about two years ago, I acquire a Netflix account and proceed to watch all four seasons plus the specials in under a week. From this point on, I am a Whovian, and watch all the new episodes as they come out.

Permalink Reply by Leah Cherie Rowbotham on August 30, 2012 at 9:41pm My Dad was a classic DW fan and we noticed that there was a new DW series on UKTV. I can't remember if it was the ninth or tenth doctor but I loved it. Dad doesn't like it as much as I do but now I'm watching the Slyvester McCoy series, I'm a DWCA member and I have a few friends that are just as crazy as me. My last artwork will actually be based on Blink ^_^
Permalink Reply by Paige Shoemaker on August 31, 2012 at 3:55am Hi! I'm brand-spankin-new to NF and all of this awesomeness! How are you all...I'm good. Thanks. :-)
I'm hella excited to answer this question, cause it gets me all emotional.
I started watching some of Tom Bakers Doctor on PBS in the 80's when I was a way little girl. I can vividly remember sitting on the couch next to my Dad, and just accepting it for it's awesomeness.
And here is the "aww" part. Fast forward to me in my late 20's. I haven't seen Doctor Who for a good 20 years. I meet this guy. He's awesome. He invites me over to watch some of the 2005 relaunch of Doctor Who. I remember it from being a kid. I fall in love and in love again (the the show and with him). Blah, blah, blah...4 years later he proposes.
And so I watched as a kid, took a good 20 year break, started watching again a few years ago and still love it! I can't wait for the new season to start! I remember being somewhat confused at first, but Seth was there to help be thru the confusion!
