How do you feel about prop 8 in California being overturned??

Pretty much what it says in the title. As a questioning teen, I am very happy that Prop 8 was overturned. I think it's another much needed step in gay rights. But I'd like to know what the rest of the nerdfighters feel about this. Is it important or inconsequential? Is it right or wrong? Or do you have any other feelings? Let me know!

Prop 8 was unconstitutional, so it made sence it was overturned due to it being unconstitutional. An exerpt from the ruling said the following:

Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.

Which I agree with 100 %.

I live in California and I think it's great. this notion that a lot of people seem to have that it will "ruin marriage" is rubbish. I'm sure heterosexual couples have done more damage all by themselves, what with the vegas weekend weddings, and the divorce rate as high as ever. It's great that they get a chance to get married :)

I am very happy that prop 8 was overturned! Yaayyy! My uncle actually got married the weekend before we had to originally vote for it. I cried soo hard at the wedding.
Idk. Gay rights is very important to me because of my uncle and my grandfather. They are both gay and I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to marry whom they please. The deserve to be happy just as my parents got to be happy! :]
And this is coming from someone who is a very Catholic person.

I think it's AWESOME. Denying gay people the right to marry is just stupid, not to mention unconstitutional. I'm a Christian, but I firmly believe in separation of church and state, and I don't think it's right to impose religious beliefs like who should marry whom on other people. And the idea that allowing same-sex marriage will somehow "destroy" marriage and family (e.g. "Save Marriage" or whatever) is just idiotic. The gays aren't going to take over the world now that they can marry...

So yes, I think it's great, although it is only the first step in the right direction.

I was very happy to hear about the decision on prop 8. My best friend is bi (with a tendency towards her own gender) and I'm happy that one day, when she finds someone she wants to marry, that there will be places in the U.S where she will be able to.

I really respect him because he is a republican that has made some pretty far-right decisions in the past. I don't think that gay marriage is going to ruin marriage! Honestly, marriage is marriage. Two people love each other so they want to spend their lives together and put an official label on it. I think it is so great that Proposition 8 was overturned!!! ^_^

I know!! Plus, in past years the Republican party has been more about personal beliefs and less about sticking to the Constitution, which is what the party was based on. Granted, I don't associate with the Republican party, but still I'm glad to see people defending the Constitution instead of their moral ideals.
