Nerdfighters

I have to ask, with each occupation, comes a certain schema of prestige, respect and wealth.  I can go on.   What's your take on doing things you love and what you need to make a decent living?  How much or how great is it to be really wealth?   (Doctors, for example, can make a lot of money but only after many sacrifices, not to mention the stress / guilt of harming a patient by accident).

And do you guys feel like you are judged by how much you earn?  ETc. superficial status of a job.

In my opinion, anyone who judges you based upon your pay-scale is rather shallow. If you're doing something that you enjoy doing and it makes enough money for you to live in a way that you can define as comfortable, then you've got the best job in the world.
I grew up with two unemployed parents, so having a job at all means, in my eyes at least, I'll have enough money. :P
I've been looking at careers recently (trying to figure out what in college and afterwards and whatnot) and I didn't even think to consider salaries. I don't really care about making a bunch, I just want a job that makes me feel useful.
The career I'm looking into right now gives a good amount of money, but I'm interested in it because I think it'd be fun and I'd be good at it. (I want to go into pharmaceutical engineering/pharmacology) As long as I can get a decent apartment and a cute car, I'm fine.
Lol, I like how cute car is a requirement :) Then again, I spend a good deal on of my money on video games and books with shiny covers, so I guess I can't really talk.
A 1960s Mini Cooper would suffice. You can get a decent one for under $10K. I'm not so into the big pricy cars. Audis are nice, but meh to the rest. Give me an old Mini any day. :)

I'd probably spend the rest of my money on tea, sushi, and weird-looking footwear.
Weird footwear and tea? High five! If you know of Rhett and Link, have you checked out their mythical shoes? I want a pair.
Psssh, forget high-fives. High-turkeys are the new thing.

Never heard of them, but it sounds awesome already. :3

I dunno, but I like weird shoes. Especially weird boots. If it wasn't so stuffy by me, I'd wear my moon boots and rainbow swirly rainboots more often.
Rhett and Link are a couple of cool guys on youtube. They make hilarious and awesome commercials for local companies.
I've always like the rainboots that are made to look like animals, like a duck or alligator. I don't like to wear boots myself, but I got a pair of puppy face boots for baby sister to wear.
Sounds cool.

I want ducky boots, but I've never seen them in my size.

I like boots, but not in the summer lol. Also, lace-up boots are such a hassle to put on that I rarely have patience to try them on, let alone do it every time I want to wear them.

On the topic of animal-styled clothing, I used to have an adorable umbrella that looked like a baby mouse. I wish I still had it. RIP Mousey umbrella. D:
When I actually get money, I'll probably get a cute umbrella with it.
Disposable income doesn't seem like that big of a deal, until you don't have any.
I have a couple of maybes in mind, teaching, psychology, something in radio. I'm not really prioritising money in decision making (nor am I prioritising making decisions), but I really would like to buy nice things. There's also family. I don't mind living poor but I'd like a wife and kids.
It's alot to think about... I'm putting it off.
