If a tree falls in the middle of the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?

I'm sure many people have heard this question before and have found it perplexing. but everyone has their own different reason of why they chose yes or no. so I was just wondering...

I think the key to this question is understanding that words are pointers to concepts: once you replace the word with the concept, rational discussion will always reach a solution. The problem lies in the fact that sound is a pointer to either the concept "auditory experience", or the concept "Longitudinal pressure waves in air", depending on your mindset and background.

The falling of a tree emits sound waves that can travel through substances thus making a sound.
