for a power, i would definitely want mind reading/ mind control abilitys, and a name... maybe electro freeze... even though it doesn't relate...

mind reading would be cool but might get annoying hearing everyonse thoughts after a while

I've created a lot of supers for LARPs and tabletop games, and I've found there is an inverse relationship between power level and playability. The most fun to play are the lamer seeming supers - the guys who'd get a supporting role with Dr. Horrible or The Tick. My favorite is Best In Show; he is a shape changer but he can only become different breeds of dog.

Ahh...The Tick, to be a super hero and be nigh indestructible.

I'm pretty sure I would be a VERY troubled and conflicted hero.(Notice I didn't say Super) I would have no powers, because there is nothing heroic about stopping crime when you're modified like that.

Lets use Batman and Superman as an example.
Batman, AKA Bruce Wayne, has no super powers. He has technology, yes, but take that away and he's just a normal human being. Hero? Yes.
Superman, AKA Clark Kent, AKA Kal El, gets super powers from the Earth's sun. Super powers, yes. He is nigh indestructible. Does that make him a hero for fighting criminals? If something(yes, thing. he's not human) can't really be hurt except by his secret vulnerability, I don't think that his actions could truly be called heroic.

doesnt matter if you didnt say superhero i was just curios as to what answers people give i think bruce wayne would still be a hero even if he didnt have the batman persona

What I was getting at is that it's not the power that makes someone a super hero. suddenly getting super powers won't make someone altruistic/evil. In fact, I'm willing to bet that if everyone on here DID have superpowers, they wouldn't be out doing heroic acts. They would be sitting at their computers talking about how they can make the world suck less by not shaving for a month.

It's the person, not the power.
