Nerdfighters

Ok he died. He used drugs (Yea ok like every other musician in the world.) and he was a child molester.(fine fine fine "possibly")

Why are we giving him this much air time? Seriously? There are more important things to talk about!

Personally I never thought his music was any good, but I do like Alien Ant Farm's cover of one of his songs. (I think it's Annie.)

But seriously he died, ok, can we get over it now please?

Also I didn't think my first thread on these boards would about micheal jackson

But, he hasn't been called the "greatest musician who ever lived" he's being called the "greatest entertainer that ever lived"
Two very different things, in my opinion.
Yeah, except I've seen about a dozen fangirls/boys in news clips calling him "the greatest musician that ever lived." If you watched any coverage of his death pre-memorial, you probably saw a clip of someone saying this.
Yea, then Matt happened to this thread.

I'm tired of arguing over such a shallow matter, Matt, I'll argue you in another thread. But I'll finish by saying this.

Yes, I have very low faith left in humanity, and I'm not saying that all cops, lawyers (Well ok lawyers are the exception, they're more morally bankrupt than the Emperor.lol), and judges are corrupt, I'm saying people are corrupt, everyone allows themselves to be bribed. And don't say you haven't, have you ever been good for your parents so they'd take you to get a happy meal? Now yes, this isn't a bad bribe, but a bribe nonetheless.

This thread was created mainly to complain that the media is again making a big deal out something small, just like SWINE flu ( I refuse to call it h1n1. ) and bird flu, and every dumb thing that has happened in the past few years that the media made a big deal out of. Whoever thought of 24/7 news was a moron, we don't need to be fed useless crap every half hour. Also I wanted to see what other nerdfighters thought about him and the media swarming the story.
And now this post is a lot longer than what I intended, so I'll stop.
"lawyers (Well ok lawyers are the exception, they're more morally bankrupt than the Emperor.lol)"

My dad's a lawyer and he's done many cases for free because the people didn't have the money to pay him and didn't feel comfortable using the lawyer the government pays for on your behalf. You're bad at getting good points. :P

"This thread was created mainly to complain that the media is again making a big deal out something small"

That's what you're not understanding. Michael Jackson's death was not a small thing to happen. It wasn't some news story that should have been hidden in the newspaper because some people may care and could find it. Michael Jackson was an international icon. He is famous throughout the world. He has done many things to help many people. It was big news. The media has blown it completely out of proportion, and because of that have not covered some very important news topics. However, that wasn't my beef with you.
If nothing else, we do know that he was an amazing father and person.

I saw the memorial today and watched his daughter burst into tears as she said goodbye to her father at the end of the service. I lost it at that point.
Yea, any kid, or rather most kids that have halfway decent parents, will burst into tears when that parent dies.

I have seen some of the home movies they have, from those, you can see he was a decent father, and I'll leave it at that for that.
I don't think we should understate his importance to the pop culture and the world as a whole.

Regardless of if you believe he was an amazing, misunderstood god of music or a drug-addict child molester (or fall somewhere in between, as I do.), Michael Jackson was a big deal.

However, I think the ridiculous media coverage is somehow doing the opposite of what it should. It seems to be cheapening his impact. We hear so much about him that all we can do is complain about how sick we are of Michael Jackson. Not that this a surprise. The same thing has happened for every other world-changing celebrity ever. We just need to realize that this is the deal. And try to flip to a different news station every time his name comes up.
i told my mom that if obama droped dead right now there would be less news on that i mean come on like billy mayes is dead to and he died 2 days after michel and there is no news about him
I'm pretty convinced if there where a terrorist attack on the White House it would get about 2mins of air time, then the breaking news would be "Micheal Jackson confirmed dead."
Yeah. As it is, if I want to watch CNN or MSNBC (the two news channels I give any kind of credence to) I have to sit through 15 freaking minutes of BS about MJ before they mention anything else, and I'm lucky if they spend any meaningful time on any other story. I could kind of understand this BEFORE the memorial, but he is quite literally 8 feet under. STOP WITH THE F*CKING INSANITY AND MOVE ON! I DON'T CARE IF HIS FAMILY TRIED TO INTERVENE! PROVE THAT YOU STILL HAVE SOME SHRED OF HUMANITY LEFT AND LEAVE THE POOR PEOPLE TO GREIVE ALREADY!!!
Billy Mayes != Michael Jackson

Billy Mayes did paid advertisements. Michael Jackson helped to unite a large portion of the world with music.
i completely agree with you. Except for a few songs i never found his music that great.
I have also never heard anyone play many of his songs until his death.
why should we randomly start liking his just because hes dead?
