In need of Career Advice in the field of Physics? So Am I! If you can help or need help, please reply.

Hello, I'm currently in my final year of high school, in the country Trinidad (in the Caribbean) , and I'm thinking of pursuing a career in physics....it's my passion. Currently I'm trying to gather as much info as I can on what major and college may best suit me.

So essentially , I'm asking anyone who has a career in or is pursuing a career in physics to please offer some insight abt where they studied, about their current jobs, whether or not they enjoy and/or inspired by it.

I've been considering Astrophysics, but I really would like to talk to someone who is involved in theoretical or quantum physics research, or research in physics in general.

If you can offer me any advice or information, please message me or reply to this.

ALSO if anyone has a request similar to my own please feel free to post here!!

Thank you!

Please include any University, which you may've attended or know of that is particularly reputable in the above fields, it can be anywhere, the US, Canada, UK..

Thanks!!

A friend of mine studied Astrophysics at Southampton University in England. He said it involved a lot of telescopes, measurements and ocular science.

Thanks for the info!

I'll be checking out Southhampton then.

Anything else anyone?

Is there anyone who can tell me first hand how a major in particle Physics is like?

Thank you Sean. Gd advice about looking for schools that offer the research oppurtunities, and internships. Also, majoring in physics in general has been my primary option... and it's great to hear from people who are considering exactly what I'm thnking about doing!!  Thanks for the help. :)

I'll be sure to let you know of any questions that come to mind.
