Just got my AP Lit reading list What Should I Read?

just received my AP reading list consisting of about 150 classic novels and i have to read one over the summer which one should i read?
What is your favorite classic novel?
What should i stay away from?
Please Help.
(sorry i didn't include list, but you can probably guess what is on it)

I'm not sure if you're doing American or British lit so you're going to get a mixture of both. I'm going to try and catagorize the books that I liked and didn't like from both years of AP English that I took (plus maybe some others).

Pride and Prejudice - I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though it generally appeals only to the womenfolk
The Great Gatsby
The Grapes of Wrath - It's long but fantastic
A Brave New World
The Scarlet Letter
Les Miserables - from sophomore year, but still a fantastic book
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn

Nay
Wuthering Heights - this book is absolutely abysmal
Jayne Eyre - This is one "chick" book that I can NOT stand. The characters are extremely irrational (on both the logic and emotion fronts), and the plotline is extremely frustrating and unsatisfying

You should definitely read The Canterbury Tales if it's on the list. It's one of the cornerstones of English literature, and indeed of the English Language. (Chaucer did for English what Dante did for Italian....made it sexy and literary!)

The Wife of Bath's Tale is my favorite.

Definitely stay away from Wuthering Heights.

How about Dorian Gray? I love it.

I'd go with The Great Gatsby or Dorian Gray. If it's on your list (it was on an AP Lit list of mine) I'd also go for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Good choice- it's really good, once stuff starts happening around chapter three.

Read none of them and when you go back to school say "hey school i didnt read the book because it suck HARD!!!!" then the school will worship you and throw money. now if your not on drugs like i am the first opition wont work so instead read Scarlet Letter or Mice and Men i heard they were thought-provoking.
