People kill animals for different reasons. Some for 'experience', for their meat, and others just because they hate animals. What is your opinion on killing animals?

I ran over a squirrel today.

His wife didn't mourn him. His children didn't cry for him. In fact, no other squirrel in the entire world was in any way affected by his death; so please tell me what the big deal is.

you don't realy know that.

also are you saying as long as nobody mourns life has no value?
are you unmarried and an orphan?
can i kill you?

unless you plan on using every part of said animal, don't kill it. it's stupid to kill something and then just let it go to waste, in fact that sounds like murder. I'm not sure what I think of experimenting on animals.

I'm not sure what I think of experimenting on animals.

If you or someone you love has ever been to a hospital, then you're in favor of it.

i dom't think it's that simple.
a. does it really work?
b. is it really neccesary?
c. do we allready know what we need to know and go on testing the same stuff over?

and again, there are doubts as to the effectiveness of animal teating for drugs, i won't even start on cosmetics or cigarettes.

a. I've found it to be pretty effective.
b. Are you suggesting that we do possibly very serious health hazard tests on poor humans (because that's what it would come down to)? It is necessary to find out as much as we can before we start selling it to the masses.
c. Not sure on that one.

a what do you mean, YOU have found it effective?
b i have come accross the opinion a few times that animal, human comparison don't work as well as we think.
also they get tested on humans. there are projects where people sign up for testing for money, risking their health.
and there are clandestine testings where doctors give out drugs to patients unbeknown to them that have not been aproved.
it happened to me a few years ago.
c i don't know about that either , but i am very cynical and suspicious and basically have very little trust in anybody. specially big corporations that make money out of peoples basic needs.

nb. i am just reading a book called sea of poppies where an employee of the east india company justefies the attemt to break into china and force indian opium on them with the argument that we can't withhold the wonders of medecin from those poor people. asked about addiction he brushes that away as; peoples weakness is their own fault.
he goes on about free trade a lot.
could not help thinking about modern free trade and the legalise drug debate.
