People kill animals for different reasons. Some for 'experience', for their meat, and others just because they hate animals. What is your opinion on killing animals?

bodhichitta huh? How about Perinirvana? There's no real difference except that Perinirvana is the final death of the enlightened. Your bodhichitta is realized in life, while Pernirvana is realized in death. The fact that you cite bodhichitta proves my earlier argument.

marmaduke.
maybe not evil, but greedy and stupid. a lot of our advancement goes past just making our/families lives better.
a lot of it has to do with tremenduous greed and desire for power.

and these days we have the information to see where it leads.

the preserving we do is very little compared to the damage we do and as we as a species claim superiority based on brainpower we ought to do better.

we treat other humans badly to, be it slavery, colonialis or globalisation.

turkeys; do they come from a climate where it never rains?

how would they survive on an ordinary farmyard then?

in the wild they'll self regulate, unless we kil all the predators.
farm animals only exist because we breed them. and what a merry life they lead.

farm animals also contribute much more meat, because the domesticity process makes them grow larger and more efficiently for our needs. A wild turkey will not provide nearly as much edible meat as a domesticated one. Besides, it's supply and demand. There is simply not enough land in the world to 'let the animals roam free' and then hunt them, while still providing enough meat to meet peoples demands...

if we ate meat reasonably farm animals could be healthy.
because we goggle more than we need the live not just in inhumane conditions, but are pumped full of antibiotics and hormones that do not benefit our health.

modern turkeys can't even breed on their own, they are to heavy for their legs.

here is a sensible aproach to the subject. give it a couple of minutes, the intro is long.

that is the comment where you ask me if i know it and you explain about bhuddism. does not really explain it to me.
that is so easily a cop out.

why is thisa down here???

must go soon. i am looking foreward to hearing/reading more on this.

No, that is the comment where I explain what bodhichitta is. I then point out how other religions have the same viewpoint of what people should do for others in society. When I brought up bodhichitta, I was arguing your statement that people like Gandhi, people that help society and care more about others than themselves, are few and far between. Explain to me how it's a cop out to point out that many religions have the viewpoint that people should treat others as they would treat themselves? Especially religions that contain a high number of followers which would suggest that at least a fair portion of people on Earth do try and care more about the good of all people above themselves?

Calling something a cop out can be just as big of a cop out.

you don't explain very much, and the copout refers to my experience of people, westerners, who use concepts odf eastern religion to get away with anything.

it doesn't matter what we do to the planet, animals, people, we are all one in spirit, only the spirit matters, it's their karma ectr.

that pisses me off.

Technically humans now a days can sustain themselves without the use of animal proteins in there diet, period. there is no longer a need for farming such large populations of livestock. There is no need any more for people to slaughter animals from food purposes, we don't even need the milk! In fact the human body is not meant to digest milk proteins after infancy, it actually leeches the calcium out of your bones more than it replaces it. Plus not only is it more environmentally sound to stop mass factory farming but it is also healthier for us. It takes less water and it reduces all of the harmful toxins and antibiotics in our water supply. Plus we could grow plants that are so much more nutritional with less effort on the same land as animals. ... ow my head hurts...
