What's the last book you read? Did you like it? Why or why not? Is it part of a series? Did you identify with a certain character well? Would you recommend it? Were you recommended it by a friend? Were you happy with the ending?

I'll start.

The last book I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. My friends had been nagging me to read the series, so I started with the first book, which was great. Then I got hold of the second book and read it. It's really good. I'm not usually one for super-fiction, but I like this Harry Potter. :) Though I think a lot of people here have already read it, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't. I thought the fight between Harry and the professor was a disappointment, though. It could've lasted a tad longer. But all in all, great book. Great series.

Your turn! Go go go!

Last book I read was called Eyes Like Star: Theatre Illuminata, Act One by Lisa Mantchev.
I loved the book because it combined two of my favorite things-theater and fantasy. The characters were amazing. Most of them were characters from well-known plays but because they were "offstage" the writer took some liberties with their characters. Bertie, the main character, hangs out with a bunch of immature, mischevious little Shakesperean fairies, Hamlet walks around in a leather jacket, smoking cigarettes, complaining and leaning against walls looking tragic, and Ophelia is a friendly, mellow, eccentric whose hobbies include giving cryptic advice and drowning herself.
I would definitely recommend it, and have to everyone I know. I wasn't recommended it by a friend, though, I just found it at Barnes and Noble and it sounded good so I said "Why not?"
I was happy with the ending for the most part (the whole 'power of words' bit was awesome) but I didn't like the fact that Bertie hooked up with Ariel after all the trouble he caused, besides the fact that he's a perv.

Well I'm currently reading 'Insomniac' by Stephen King for the... 5th? 6th? time. One of my all time faves. But the one I most recently finished was..... gah, I don't know. I tried to read LotR and I just.... I just couldn't. The meadow is nice, it doesnt need 6 pages of every detail. It ruined my imagination.

The last book i read was Paper Towns and I cant believe that I never heard about it before stumbling upon vlogbrothers. It's such a good book I am definitely going to read the rest of John's books. I most definitely recommend it to anyone on here who hasn't already read it.

The last full book was The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Vol. I. Right now I'm on The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Vol. II. :D I liked it a lot, actually, and now that I'm reading it, I can't seem to stop devouring classic literature. You could say it's part of a series, as there are two volumes. I identified with Dr. Watson the most, and found that my thoughts and his were similar on almost everything. I would recommend it for those who like detective novels or want to get into detective novels. I feel like once I read the very last Holmes story, I'll feel sad and want more. I almost always feel that way at the end of books. :(

i hate the way holmes just knows eveything, i know he's meant to be a great detective but it just feels poorly written when he magically finds things out and when its based on lies like on the speckled band

The last book I read was the 'Sea and Sardinia' by DH Lawrence. It isn't part of a series, but I just finished reading another book by the author and wanted more. I did identify more with aspects of the relationship of the narrator to his wife than I did with any particular character. This is essentially a travel book, relating the experiences Lawrence had traveling with his wife during the 1920's. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a younger teen, as I think they might have trouble with it's slow unwinding story and long descriptive passages of the landscape and people. I did enjoy it very much despite it's slow pace. I would recommend most Lawrence novels with a strong caution that a younger reader should check out the author's bio first to decide if they wanted to wade into his territory. The sexuality is graphic and the author's take on male-female relationships is challenging.

I never reveal anything about a books ending, except on accident or extreme arm twisting.

The last book I read was Holy Cows and Hog Heaven by Joel Salatin. It's about how to eat local. I'm currently reading Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder which is about Paul Farmer and his medical work in Haiti.

I'd decided to catch up with a few Dickens' classics, I've read A Tale Of Two Cities and Oliver Twist recently.

They are both great reads and have succeeded in making me highly emotional.

I'm also reading Goodnight Mr Tom and some short stories by Agatha Christie.
