looking for vampire books---please no twilight

i love vampires in comics. i've read bram stoker, watched blade and other vampire movies, but i'm fiding my library search engin sadly deficient in helping me find more.

tell me your favorite vampire stories, but please, no twilight, because i am NOT a fan.

Sunshine by Robin McKinnly. Its a bit long winded in discription but it an interesting viue on the whole "vampires in modern socity" thing.

Also anything by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Ive recently read Salem's lot my Stephen King. I really liked it.

If you hated Twilight I wouldn't recommended you the Vampire diaries, although it is slightly better than Shitlight. At least they dont sparkle.

Right now I'm in the process of reading Dracula.

Try Vampire Academy... They are ok.

The Mortal Instruments have vampires in them but not really as the main characters....

People may have already suggested all the books I am about to suggest, I only read the first page of replies because I'm too lazy to read all of them! Anyways, I'm more interested to modern books, so mine are all newer ones.

-Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith (The books are SO much better than the TV show...they shouldn't even be named the same thing...)

-Night World by L.J. Smith as well (It's not only vampires, but it's very good. 3 books, with 3 stories in each, so far. I think another book is supposed to come out.)

-Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz 

-House of Night by P.C. and Kristin Cast

-Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

-Sucks to Be Me by Kimberly Pauley

-The Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey (I've only read the first, Hearts At Stake, and despite the cheesy title, I thought it was pretty good.)

I just finished reading on called Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel. It was so good. 

This one isn't actually a vampire book...but it is a good one with supernatural. Beautiful Creatures by Kim Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

I am reading the Morganville Vampires series, by Rachel Caine, right now. It's pretty interesting!

Cirque Du Freak is amazing. It's a twelve part series, and I LOVED the first three. I'm working on four, now. They're by Darren Shan.

The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine is brilliant. The Silver Kiss by Annette Currtis Klause also falls under the 'brilliant' category!

Don't know if anybody's mentioned this before but the Darren Shan saga is probably my all-time favourite vampire series.
