For those of you who don't know what a lucid dream is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream

Now, Have any of you ever had one?

It's apparently uncommon, which is new to me because almost every dream I have is a lucid dream. In regular dreams, I can control them or atleast I know it is a dream. In nightmares, I know it is a dream, but I get sleep paralysis. Anyone experience anything similar?

Last night, I had something very similar to @penpusher. It was my first lucid dream and I was at school and I went around telling everyone that they could do whatever they wanted because it was a dream. I didn't control anything, I never thought of it at the time. Now I know I can lucid dream, I'm hoping next time I actually do something interesting!
It's not really that i have lucid dreams, but it's not really that I have them either. It's just allways in the back of my mind when I dream: "you do know you're dreaming, right?" and I DO know, it's just not something you're thinking at the time, because you're preoccupied with monster camp counselors trying to drown you, or getting into sewer movie theaters with daniel radcliffe (and yes, those were some of my own dreams). It's kind of like, yes, you know that you have a spleen, but no, it's not something you will really think about unless otherwise provoked.
dude - you have awesome dreams :P
I've never had a lucid dream, everyone I know has experienced them, not every night but at least once or twice but I have never had one.
You should try, they are amazing. :3 Best night's sleep you'll ever have.
I want to! HELP ME PLEASE! XD
Once i had a nightmare, in witch scary people came into my room and almost killed everyone in my family... (i was veary young when i had this dream) Eventually, i noticed that i couldn't run.. so i knew it was a dream.. i just wanted it to be over, so i made myself wake up.

Now i feel regret, for i am waiting for another dream where i know it's a dream (lucid dream), so i can controle it to make David Tennant, Charlie McDonnell, Matt Smith, Alex Day and Tom Milsom be in my dream and we could all have dinner!
One of the only times I've lucid dreamed:
It was the day before the first of school (this year.) I had trouble sleeping. When I finally got to sleep, I dreamt that I was in my house's entry way.
AND FREDDY KRUEGER WAS COMING DOWN THE STAIRS.
Scariest thing ever. Of course, I instantly realized I was dreaming, because Freddy can only appear in dreams... Terror swelled up in me...
And I woke up in a state of (temporary) sleep paralysis, which only scared me more. Probably the worst dream I've had for a long time.
The film 'Waking Life' got me really interested in Lucid Dreams, and I've had a couple. Being able to control your actions in dreams is an exhillerating experience. I told myself when I was less busy (i.e. no exams to worry about) I'd put more effort into it, but hey- life took over and I forgot. Reading the last couple of pages has got me excited again, and a dream diary will be on the cards! It might help me to sleep better too!
