Nerdfighters

This is for both the ladies and gents.

Hank's makeup tutorial video the other day sparked a bit of curiosity for me; applying makeup routinely is obviously a very common thing. I know people who won't leave the house without it, and then on the contrary, I know people who find it a major turn-off. Personally, I do like to put on a tad bit if I'm going out somewhere, but only enough to compliment natural features (especially just a touch of eyeliner, maybe a little mascara. Whatevs).

I'm certainly not a fan of when people cake on layers and layers of foundations, concealers, blush, eyeshadow, what have you. There's no point in completely covering up natural beauty-- and it usually ends up looking worse than a completely fresh face anyway.

What's your opinion on it? :]

it depends on my mood and where i am going. most of the time, i only bother with a tiny bit, like eye make-up or a tiny bit of concealer if i've got a zit or something. if its a special occasion then i will add more. i defiantly don't like the look of girls with caked on make-up. a bit to bring out your natural whatever looks better. i hate the look of thick dark eye liner and tons of foundation.
I usually just brush on a bit of eyeliner (I use shadow as my liner, soooo much easier) and some powder. Sometimes blush. If I feel fancy, I'll do eyeshadow and/or lipstick. I rarely go out without at least eyeliner, but it's usually nothing heavy.

Anyone who doesn't like how I fashion myself can suck it. Makeup is an accessory. I don't mind how I look without it. I rarely leave my house without my dog tag and lock necklaces on, and nobody ever whines about that. People who go on and on about people who wear makeup being insecure bother me way more than the insecure chicks who cake on 8 colors of eyeshadow and 3 types of face makeup.
Myself personally, i don't like seeing a lady with an excessive amount of make up on for several reasons, first it looks really unnatural and fake, second it's usually really ugly makeup (no offense most of the time it just looks bleh) and most importantly when females wear that much make up they are hiding who they are! If I like you its because your you, not because your eye shadow is purple and green. A little bit goes a long way imo.
I agree. I prefer girls who are natural. Make up is a big turn off for me. A little is acceptable but I mainly like natural. Also like you said it hides who the girl really is. The only exception for make up is on stage or on camera. Make up is needed to show natural features on film or from a distance that otherwise wouldn't show up.
I'm a maroon lipstick, dark nail polish, eye liner, and mascara kind of girl. XD
Occasioanlly some light powder. I'm very fair so foundation generally doesn't suit me.
When I get dressed up, I'm suprisingly Goth...

Either than, or just mascara and some eyeliner on top.

I hate bronzer. I want to get a big pile of bronzer and set it on fire. It looks terrible. Just terrible.
The same goes with bright pink lipgloss or loads of blush. Blegh.

Either sharply define your features, or look natural.
ARRRRGH I HATE BRONZER. All it does is make you look awkwardly orange and kinda dirty. Pink lip gloss is annoying too, or at least the pale pink kind. It makes you look kinda creepy and unnatural. Any sort of unnatural tan, whether it's from sunbathing, orange lotion, bronzer, or a tanning bed looks bad in my opinion. Most people only look good within the range of what their skin naturally looks like.

Classy goth makeup ftw. There's nothing wrong with looking like a proper vampire.
I'm very minimalist. Usually I'll just put on some foundation/concealer and lip gloss. I hardly ever use eye makeup because I have really thick eyelashes to begin with, so it looks kind of ridiculous on me. I also hate having to put it on every morning because I'm always so tired and I don't feel it's worth the effort as I'm just going to school or work. I mean, if people don't like how I look, they're not going to care whether I wear makeup or not. I'd still look basically the same. At least, this is my opinion. Many girls enjoy having the choice of complementary colors and types of makeup and stuff, so I say go for it if you like it. But makeup's really not my thing, so I don't choose to wear a lot.
I can't imagine you in more than minimal makeup. JS.
I don't wear make-up most of the time. I'm only 14 now and I'll probably start using it a little more often when I'm older but only minimally. I believe in natural beauty and I don't want to cover mine up.
I wear makeup when I'm going somewhere special or if I feel like I have a bad case of the uglies.
I sometimes wear makeup to school but most of the time I feel that my few extra minutes of sleep is more important.
When I wear makeup I do: eyeshadow, powder, eyeliner, and something on my lips. But I don't wear it every day, I usually just wear lip stuff and/or powder. I don't like the look of blush, bronzer, and caked on foundation I will only wear them for plays or show and it feels really gross. I like to play with color around my eyes though, blues and greens and purples, its just fun for me; I wear makeup for me and no one else. But I would never dislike someone who wore 'to much'.
To me, make-up is just another mask that makes us better mirrors; to imagine someone complexly you should see them as people, not beautiful icons of wonder.
