Nerdfighters

I think it's time for another unofficial blurbing book club selection!  You've probably already heard of this book, as John Green has blurbed the book and is the author's sort of mentor, but I'm only just reading it now and I think it's wonderful! Slightly creepy, with all the photographs, I also think it's excellent winter-time reading.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

You know the drill by now.  Read the book, and then come back here and discuss it AND blurb it.

So, for those of you who've read the book already, what did you think of it?

I read it and I personally think it was the most wonderful thing ever since tomatos or lions. LOL The pictures were great and the story line was ineresting. Then pictures were fantsactic (or however you spell it).

My blurb: Jacob Portman is a rather strange kid will a rather ordianry life. Untill one day his grandfather calls him at work frantic that the monsters are here. He goes to his grandfather's house only to find his mangle remains in the woods. When he looks up what he sees will change his life forever. (dun Dun DAAAA):)

I got it for christmas and loved it, the design was weird but beautiful and the story and the pictures blended well together, I felt it had the right ammount of suspense and wonder as Jacob explores and unravels his grandfather's untold story.

overall a great read and I'm wondering if there's a sequel.....

There is going to be a sequel! Ransom Riggs said so on his blog!

"So I've been off in writing-Miss-Peregrine-Book-Two land and haven't been posting much on the ol' bloggy-blog..."

:D

I read this book a few months ago, looking at it because I thought the cover art was simply fantastic. Then I read the synopsis and it's eeriness intrigued me. The book was just great, it took me a day to read it because I didn't want to put it down. I loved how the story went along with the photographs.

I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

I finished it a few months ago, and I absolutely LOVED the storyline. I thought the pictures created a creepishly wonderful feeling to the story. It made the plot come "alive" if you know what I mean. I loved this book. I'm so terribly excited for more material from this author.

This book was recommended to me by a friend...and I'm so glad I bought it!

It had a great mix of creepy, suspenseful story flow and humourous lines (my favourite being "Fat and drunk was no match for fast and scared shitless") I found the pictures interesting and a new refreshing idea that I haven't seen before in other YA books I've read. I thought the magic children were amazing; so many unique and different characters, with strange powers that I've never heard of (creating living dolls for eg.).

It will remain as one of my favourite books...and I'm interested about the sequel :)

It was interesting, the author really injected the book with a lot of realism, I felt like the book was non-fiction for a second because of all the photgraphs. And for that second I really felt like I had a connection with the characters. I know its a very simple review or comment or opinion ( whatever this is). But authors tend to give you a birds eye view of a character whereas Ransom grounded me to the characters.

I've wanted to read that so bad! I love the pictures they are so creepy!  Is the book scary at all or creepy?

its not really THAT creepy...unless you're like reading it in the dead of night and your house makes scary noises, which mine does xD. there's only one picture that creeped me out...it was of that whole dentist one with no pupils so the eyeballs are all white and freaky. but thats just me!

I read this book earlier this year and I enjoyed a majority of the book if I am being honest. I really liked the concept of the book because I had never read a young adult novel with such a bizarre setting. Towards the end of the book, I felt very disappointed. It felt abrupt and not satisfying. I felt as though the ending was rushed a lot of details were put in. I wasn't too happy with all of the plot twists and turns in the book as well. But I will admit I enjoyed the set up and the main characters.

Got it for Christmas and loved it . Nothing at all like I thought it would be and I LOVED the pictures!

I had just finished reading it when John green was all like "by then, randy was going by his full name, Ransom Riggs" and i completely freaked out. I was all "HE'S FRIENDS WITH ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS!!!!" i thought this book was totally fantastic. i thought the photos added such a cool effect(affect?) and i always looked forawrd to seeing a new one. totally loved it.

Sorry, no blurb. My creative juices arent flowing today.
